The Broncos had plenty of players do well against Arizona, but the ones on this list were special.
The Denver Broncos had plenty of risers on the latest stock report from Sam Jane of the Denver Post, and it’s not exactly shocking that some of them are from the offensive side of the ball. The Bronso really needed an offensive turnaround, and several players stood out in what was overall a high-quality performance.
Jonah Coleman, RB
The Denver Broncos finally had a running game in their 30-16 win over the Arizona Cardinals, and that was mostly about Coleman. He gained 54 yards on nine carries and had a pair of runs that went for over ten yards, and it was a relief to finally see the offense get some explosive plays. Coleman will get more touches, and he’s confirming a comment coach Sean Payton made in training camp about the rising rookie that he doesn’t seem like a rookie.
Bo Nix, QB
Nix’s stat line wasn’t all that impressive at 15-for-29 for 222 yards, and he made at least a couple of high-risk throws that could have been interceptions. But the Broncos will take it given the extent of Nix’s recent struggles, especially since he was able to push the ball down the field for four completions of over 20 yards, according to Jane. The writer also complimented Nix on deeper throws to receivers Courtland Sutton and Marvin Mims Jr. that had Nix waiting for them to come open. His 62-yard touchdown run speaks for itself, as does Nix’s willingness to take off from the pocket without hesitating.
Nik Bonitto and the pass rush
The linebacker and his cohorts are the most reliable staple on Jane’s weekly reports, and they dominated the Cardinals’ offensive line throughout the game. They also got stronger and tightened things up in the second half as the Broncos widened their lead, and Bonitto was everywhere as he showed the form that made him a sack leader last year.
Que Robinson and Malcolm Roach also made key contributions at linebacker and defensive tackle as well, and the Broncos will need more of the same from this group on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Alex Palczewski, OL
The Broncos swing tackle and versatile backup has become a fan favorite, but he played a significant role on Sunday. He was added to Denver’s jumbo package this week, and he was behind a lot of those Coleman runs that marked the return of the Broncos running game.
