The Denver Broncos currently hold a 12-2 record after their 11th consecutive win in Week 15, this time against the Green Bay Packers. As it stands, Denver is in position to hold the No. 1 seed in the AFC, earning a bye in the first round of the playoffs in just a few weeks.
It’s been a dream season for the Broncos despite all of its perfections, but there are still some dreams to be had as the season concludes and the playoffs get ready to begin. Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon wrote in a recent article that the dream scenario for Denver’s rest of the season is to win two of the three remaining games to clinch the No. 1 seed before riding the defense into the Super Bowl like back in Super Bowl 50.
With a one-game lead over the New England Patriots for the top spot in the AFC, the Broncos need to win just two of the remaining three games to hold onto their position atop the conference. Two of their upcoming three games are against playoff-level teams in the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Los Angeles Chargers, who both hold a record of 10-4. They won’t be easy games, but the Broncos have proven all season long that they will continue to find ways to win against anybody.
They should have one win guaranteed against the division rival Kansas City Chiefs in Week 17. The Chiefs have been eliminated from the playoff race altogether with their 6-8 record, and things in Kansas City got even bleaker last Sunday after quarterback and face of the franchise Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL against the Chargers. The season is done for both Mahomes and the Chiefs as a whole, so expect Denver to pounce all over the dead body that is the Chiefs’ 2025 season.
From there, the Broncos are in as good a spot as any team could be. The ups and downs of the season can’t take away the Broncos’ ability to finish a game with a lead at any cost. Whether they are playing their best football or their worst, you can never count the Broncos out.
The defense in Denver is elite, but the offense has been catching up in recent weeks. Quarterback Bo Nix and the Broncos scored 34 points against the Green Bay Packers last week, a huge step in proving their threat on both sides of the ball.
If the offense continues to gain momentum in the final weeks of the season and the defense continues to perform at its level, there’s no telling how far Denver can go in the playoffs. In a season that has seen Denver fans' dreams come to fruition so far, who’s to say those dreams will come to an end now?
