The Denver Broncos now have Jaylen Waddle and Courtland Sutton, and they could combine for big yardage.

There’s been plenty of speculation about the Denver Broncos' receiving group, which now includes former Miami Dolphins star Jaylen Waddle. No one quite knows who’s going to be targeted most and what the results are going to be, but Nick Kosmider of The Athletic discussed an intriguing possibility in his latest mailbag.

Could Waddle and Courtland Sutton each have a 1,000-yard season? The talent for that is certainly there, although Kosmider also noted how rare this accomplishment is, with only four teams pulling it off last season, those being the Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Cardinals, Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions.

Kosmider doesn’t think this will happen. He thinks the Broncos will spread the ball around between a group of targets that also features Troy Franklin, Evan Engram, Marvin Mims and Pat Bryant, although Engram could still be on the bubble as a final roster cut.

His prediction makes sense and is in line with most of the current thinking, and it might actuaally bad news if this happens with the Broncos. Nearly everyone is saying all the right things so far, with the share-and-share-alike mentality being part of the winning formula.

Sutton has addressed this specifically, and he talked about the need to sacrifice both targets and yardage going forward.

“I don’t think that we have any individuals or personalities in our offense that are saying, ‘Hey, I need this, I need that,’” Sutton said. “I think we have a bunch of guys that are willing to put their pride aside and say, ‘What do I need to do for this team to be successful?’”

That could change going forward, however. Marvin Mims Jr. has also put it out there that he wouldn’t mind getting an extension, but Mims also seems aware that it’s not going to happen, and he could be the odd man out in this particular receivers math equation.

He could have company, too. Franklin and Bryant are both looking to add to their production to get to that all-important second contract, and they might not be as team-friendly when they start to realize that theie numbers are going to take a step back instead.

The wild card in this equation is new offensive coordinator Davis Webb. He’s expected to take over the play calling, and no one really  knows what that’s going to look like going foward, either. There’s a lot of uncertainty ahead, and the unity of this group is going to be tested in training camp and beyond.
