The Denver Broncos picked up another win last Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers, but the narrative on this season is not one that fans are happy with.
The Denver Broncos got another win, but there's still plenty to be upset about.
For a team that was the best in the AFC just a season ago, expectations are high for the Broncos. Things have not gone to plan, but Denver got back in the win column against the Los Angeles Chargers last Sunday.
This was once again a come-from-behind win for the Broncos, as every win this season has been. It was also head coach Sean Payton's first time calling plays this year after offensive coordinator Davis Webb lost full control of the position.
Our hosts, Mike, Eric and Randy, discuss what went right and wrong for Denver in the win. Once again, the first-half lack of offense frustrated fans, and the defense kept the Broncos in this game. This seems to be the story of the season, as the team has won every game after falling behind early.
On a positive note, the team strung together another win, and despite it coming from one of the league's worst teams, it's still a win in the NFL.
Looking at the season as a whole, Mike brings up an eye-popping stat. Quarterback Bo Nix only has 942 passing yards, which is at the bottom of the barrel for starting QBs this season -- especially for a player who has been in all five games.
Randy mentions how this is upsetting, considering the weapons at Nix's disposal, including wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, who was effectively acquired from the Miami Dolphins for a first-round pick. Waddle has only amassed 204 yards and one touchdown this season.
Moving on to some news with the team, linebacker Jonathan Cooper's ongoing legal battle has been pushed back to after the conclusion of the 2026-27 season, and the 28-year-old now has a real shot at suiting up for Denver this year.
With the court date pushed back, our trio discusses whether it's possible that Cooper plays for Denver, though he is still on the commissioner's exempt list. Historically, we've seen players in similar situations wind up playing in the season while awaiting their trial, such as the Kansas City Chiefs' WR Rashee Rice, for example, so anything is possible.
Wrapping up this week's episode, our trio looks ahead to Thursday night's game against the defending Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks, a quick turnaround for both teams.
