The Denver Broncos are coming off the back of a 14-win season that saw them take the AFC’s No. 1 seed and make the conference championship game. It all ended up falling apart after quarterback Bo Nix broke his ankle in the final moments of the divisional round, leaving backup QB Jarrett Stidham to fend off the New England Patriots in the championship game.
Though the final score was close, the season was effectively over for the Broncos heading into that game. After a great season with nothing to show for it, it’s back to the drawing board for the Broncos as they look to make a Super Bowl run in 2026.
To do so, a very important offseason is in the future for Denver. With a projected $26 million in cap space available to them and key players hitting free agency, the Broncos have to be wise with how they approach the offseason.
One area of the roster that the front office needs to put its sights on is wide receiver. Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin lead the receiver room in Denver, but the Broncos are noticeably thin at the position outside of the two.
Sutton was the lone receiver for the Broncos to catch at least 70 passes or tally 1,000 receiving yards. On the other side of 30, Sutton needs some more help in the receiving room in 2026 if the Broncos want a more consistent offensive season. Though they don’t have much cap space, the Broncos need to prioritize adding another receiver in free agency. Here are two names – one cheap and one more pricey – that Denver should target for 2026:
Allen is a five-time Pro-Bowler who still produces year after year despite his age. At 33 last season, Allen put up 777 yards and eight touchdowns with the Los Angeles Chargers. He’s passed his prime, which makes him a much cheaper option for the Broncos as they address other areas of need, but Allen would still give the Broncos a huge boost in the receiving department.
If the Broncos want to spend more to add a receiver, Robinson is a great option at just 25 years old. He’s coming off a 1,000-yard season with 92 receptions and four touchdowns with the New York Giants. As a speedy slot receiver, Robinson carried the Giants' passing game in what was just a four-win season. Adding Robinson’s speed to the Broncos' offense would provide a huge boost in 2026 as they look to claim their spot atop the AFC once again.
