It started as ugly as it could get on Sunday for the Denver Broncos, being shut out by the New York Giants for the first three quarters of their Week 7 game. Finally, something clicked for the Broncos defense. They exploded for 33 points in the fourth quarter and ended up nailing a field goal as time expired to secure the comeback win for the history books.
According to the Bleacher Report NFL Staff, the late game comeback could propel a much-needed offensive spark for the Broncos in Week 8 and beyond.
“Denver appeared to leave its offense at home during last week's 13-11 win over the New York Jets in London. Bo Nix and Co. didn't look any better through three-plus quarters on Sunday. Then, the offense caught fire,” the B/R NFL Staff wrote in a recent piece. “Their late offensive explosion could be just what the offense needs to get out of its recent slump.”
Bleacher Report stated that the Denver offense desperately needed a spark after their Week 6 win against the Jets, and that's exactly how they responded in the final quarter of Week 7.
Quarterback Bo Nix and the Broncos scored four touchdowns in four consecutive drives before driving down field with 30 seconds to play to set up kicker Will Lutz for the game-winning field goal. Nix finished Week 7 with 279 passing yards and two touchdowns along with 48 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. It may have took 50 attempts, but Nix was as perfect as it gets when it mattered most in that final frame.
Broncos fans will hope that Week 7 will mark a shift in the team’s offense, as it has been the most inconsistent and unreliable part of Denver in the 2025 season. The defense has already proven its ability. The offense hase at times, but still hasn’t been able to put it all together. Week 7’s comeback could finally be the turning point that has been so desperately needed for the Broncos to be considered a true contender.
They’ll have another good chance to prove their legitimacy in Week 8 against the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys’ defense has allowed the most passing yards and the second-most rushing yards in the NFL through 7 weeks. It’s an opportunity that Nix and running back J.K. Dobbins have to take advantage of. If they flounder once again, it may be time to accept that the offense will never be a consistent force that is needed to dream of a deep playoff run.
