The PFWA revealed their annual rookie awards and unveiled their 2025 All-Rookie team, featuring two Cleveland Browns on defense

Andrew Berry has his rookie class to thank for still having a job with the Cleveland Browns.

A little over two weeks removed from the organization firing head coach Kevin Stefanski, Berry was reminded just how good his 2025 draft class was.

On Tuesday, the Pro Football Writers of America announced their annual rookie awards, which included rookie second-round pick Carson Schwesinger being voted the Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Schwesinger completed a remarkable first season where he led all rookie defenders with 146 tackles, good for eighth overall in the NFL. 11 of those were for a loss, as the UCLA product also registered 2.5 sacks, snared two interceptions and defensed three passes.

He recorded double-digit tackles in seven games, including a streak of six consecutive contests at one point during the season, which was good for the longest streak in the NFL in 2025.

Unfortunately, his rookie campaign was cut short by one game after an ankle injury forced him to the IR ahead of Week 18. Still, he made a grandiose statement regardless to earn this honor. Schwesinger also earned Defensive Rookie of the Month in November.

Since 2014, when future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald was recognized as the PFWA's Defensive Rookie of the Year, the winner of the PFWA's version of the award matched the NFL's official winner. Schwesinger has a chance to continue that streak when the league hands out its annual awards at the NFL Honors during Super Bowl week.

Schwesinger was also honored by the PFWA as one of the linebackers selected to the 2025 All-Rookie Team. Joining him was Browns defensive tackle Mason Graham.

Graham finished his rookie season with 49 tackles, seven TFLs, and four QB hits. He snared just a half sack across his 17 games played as a starter for Cleveland, and also defensed four passes.

While the Browns had plenty of other rookies contribute in key roles this season, such as tight end Harold Fannin Jr. and running back Quinshon Judkins, it was Schwesinger and Graham who wound up being the only two to make the PFWA's version of the team.

Fannin Jr. led the team in receiving, finishing with 731 yards and scored seven total touchdowns. Indianapolis Colts TE Tyler Warren got the nod, though, instead.

Meanwhile, Browns second-round pick Quinshon Judkins racked up 827 yards and seven touchdowns in a memorable first season. He was outpaced by his ex-Ohio State teammate TreVeyon Henderson and top 10 pick Ashton Jeanty, though, who made the All-Rookie team over him.

Opposite of Schwesinger as Defensive Rookie of the Year was Carolina Panthers' wideout Tetairoa McMillan, who took home the offensive rookie of the year honors and the overall Rookie of the Year Award.
