KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston flashed elite potential during the Cleveland Browns spring workouts, but WR coach Christian Jones has one goal in mind for the young pass catchers as training camp approaches.
Aside from the quarterback competition between Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders, the Cleveland Browns' wide receiver room was the talk of spring workouts. Multiple members of the revamped group put together some strong performances that provide some optimism for the offense in 2026.
Much of that optimism comes from the additions of rookies KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston, selected in the first and second rounds of this year's draft, respectively. The latter of the two in particular had one of the strongest camps of anyone.
On the days open to the media, Boston seemingly caught everything and flashed his impressive ability to come away with contested catches, especially down the field. The performance also caught the attention of Cleveland's wide receivers coach Christian Jones.
"He has done a good job," said Jones back in June. "Now, he had one day he came out and he was a little off, but he's done a really good job of catching the ball, finishing and really just seeing it into the tuck. But talk about where they put the ball, where he goes forward, he's not afraid to go get it. And really the impressive thing with a lot of the guys is they're not afraid to go use their hands."
Boston's skillset as a big-bodied, 50-50 ball winner, who can be a go-to red zone weapon, is something the Browns haven't had consistently in quite some time. The same can be said about Concepcion, though, and his incredible ability to create after the catch.
The Texas A&M product averaged 6.6 yac in college and avoided a tackle on over 21% of his career touches. He's destined to be a weapon in his own right in this Browns offense, likely out of the slot.
Together, Boston and Concepcion form a new receiver tandem that should have Cleveland fans very excited. Their performances this spring should only raise the expectations bestowed upon them as top-end picks.
Before those expectations can be realized, though, both rookies have to put in the work on the practice field first.
"Expectations are great, but it's all about the work they put in," Jones said. "I think we all expect that from them. That's the standard we're going to hold them to, but it's always up to them on what they're going to be able to do and what they want to do themselves. So my job is to get the best out of them."
Jones is off to a great start in that venture so far. So are Concepcion and Boston. When training camp opens later this month, it will be all eyes on each of them to see just how high their ceilings can be in 2026. And if they reach them, the Browns WR room could transform from one of the worst in football to its deepest position group overall.
