Versatile DB Myles Bryant joins the Cleveland Browns after stints with the Houston Texans and New England Patriots

Most of the Cleveland Browns biggest roster needs live on the offensive side of the ball, but that doesn't mean they're completely neglecting the defensive side.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Browns are adding some depth to their secondary by signing former Houston Texans DB Myles Bryant.

A University of Washington product, Bryant is entering his seventh season, after entering the NFL as an undrafted free of the New England Patriots in 2020. He has carved out a steady role for himself in the pros, appearing in 77 career games between two separate stints, first with the Patriots (2020-23) and more recently with the he Houston Texans (2024-25).

Bryant has started 20 of those contests, including a career high nine in 2023 with New England. Over the course of his career, Bryant has recorded 173 career tackles, 2.0 sacks, four interceptions and 17 passes defensed.

In Houston last season, he appeared in 11 games and made three starts for the Texans. He compiled 40 tackles, 22 of them of the solo variety and one for a loss. All four of his career interceptions came with the Patriots.

Bryant joins a Browns secondary that is headlined by five-time Pro Bowler Denzel Ward, with 2025 mid-season trade acquisition Tyson Campbell opposite of him. Cleveland lacks some depth behind those two, however, including at the nickel CB spot, which was manned by a number of players last year.

Myles Harden seemed to serve as the slot cornerback for the Browns most notably, but Bryant has some experience there himself. Bryant has also played in all areas of the secondary throughout his career, making him extremely versatile addition to the Browns defense.

It remains to be seen how new defensive coordinator Mike Rutenberg will use Bryant just yet. Cleveland may not be done adding to the secondary just yet. The NFL Draft looms large in two weeks and will provide the Browns a great opportunity to inject some young talent into all three levels of the defense, if they choose to do so.
