Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson was handed a tough grade for his performance this week against the New York Jets.
The Cleveland Browns fell to the New York Jets on Sunday, seeing their record drop down to 3-2 on the season.
The three-game winning streak for Cleveland came to an end, with the game being played in sloppy, wet conditions. The Browns offense couldn't do too much against a stout Jets defensive unit, while the defense continued to perform at a high level.
Quarterback Deshaun Watson finished the game throwing for 155 yards and one touchdown, with a fumble lost. Watson also rushed for 40 yards on the ground, doing whatever he could to generate offense for this team.
Cleveland's offensive line had eight sacks and 13 quarterback hits on Watson, showing a lack of ability to protect their quarterback. Watson was running for his life all game, and he couldn't do much against New York.
NFL analyst Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report recorded grades for every quarterback in the league in Week 5. Among these, Watson was handed a letter grade of "D" for his performance against the Jets.
It was an all around poor outing for the veteran quarterback, leading to the Browns to lose the game. But the loss isn't solely on Watson, as the entire team didn't play up to the standard against New York.
Watson led the team down the field to take the lead, only for the Jets to come right back down to retake the advantage. The veteran quarterback had been playing well entering this game, with the Browns offense firing on all cylinders.
But against the Jets, the entire unit struggled, falling back down to how the team was in Week 1. However, the Browns had chances to win this game, but they jsut couldn't do enough to get the job done.
Cleveland will now try to regroup, getting ready for a tough task ahead of them next week. The Browns will be hosting the Baltimore Ravens this weekend, offering both teams a chance to make an early-season statement in the AFC North.
The Browns have a record of 3-2 on the season, while the Ravens are 4-1, controlling the division early on. If Cleveland can get a win, it would be the second victory in the AFC North, which could make a massive difference down the line in this tight race for the crown.
Kickoff between Cleveland and Baltimore will take place at 10:00 a.m. PT/1:00 p.m. ET next week at Huntington Bank Field.
