NFL executives and coaches are taking notice of Grant Delpit’s aggressive versatility, labeling the Cleveland Browns cornerstone among the best safeties in the NFL. Delpit didn't crack the top 10 of a notable position group ranking.
Grant Delpit found himself mentioned among the best safeties in the NFL via ESPN's annual Top 10 series, which ranks the top players at every position based on voting from executives, scouts, and coaches from around the league.
The network's safety rankings wrapped up the series on Thursday, with Delpit appearing as one of five honorable mentions. Houston Texans S Jalen Pitre, Carolina Panthers S Tre'Von Moehrig, Atlanta Falcons S Xavier Watts and Chicago Bears Coby Bryant made up the rest of that group.
"He can blitz, cover tight ends, aggressive, instinctive. He would be up there if he had more ball production," one AFC executive said of Delpit, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, who assembled these rankings.
Delpit put together one of the best seasons of his career for the Cleveland Browns in 2025, starting with his career-high three sacks. In total, he racked up 89 total tackles, which was the third most in any single season of his career.
He also snared his seventh career interception, a pivotal one that set the Browns up for a game-tying touchdown in Week 3 against the Green Bay Packers. Cleveland went on to win that game via a game-winning field goal soon afterward.
2025 was less about Delpit's raw numbers, though, and more about his impact as a versatile player who can line up in different areas of the field and sets the tone for Cleveland's defense with his aggressive style of play.
A 2020 second-round pick, Delpit has grown to become a cornerstone player and leader for the Browns over the years. Despite the fact that he didn't quite crack the top 10, his name coming up among his top peers at the position is a testament to the player that he's become.
One of Delpit's biggest counterparts in the division topped the list as Kyle Hamilton of the Baltimore Ravens was voted No. 1 overall. Derwin James of the Los Angeles Chargers, Xavier McKinney of the Green Bay Packers, Brian Branch of the Detroit Lions and Jessie Bates of the Atlanta Falcons rounded out the top five.
Delpit was one of seven Browns players who popped up on one of ESPN's rankings. His secondary mate, Denzel Ward and linebacker Carson Schwesinger were the only two who actually made a top 10 list at their respective positions. Quinshon Judkins, Harold Fannin Jr., Jared Verse and Elgton Jenkins all joined Delpit as honorable mentions.
