Amidst a 1-5 start to the season, Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski is facing heavy criticism for his role in the team's continued struggles
With the Cleveland Browns sitting at 1-5 on the season, frustrations are mounting inside the locker room. Star pass rusher Myles Garrett made that abundantly clear during his postgame press conference following Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
It hasn't helped that the offense, which head coach Kevin Stefanski is the architect of, is one of the worst in the NFL, and holds the team back week-after-week. That's also one of the biggest reasons why Stefanski's name has popped up in hot seat talks this week.
As the noise grows, Stefanski shared his pretty straight forward philosophy on how he blocks it out.
"I don't listen to it, is probably the easiest way," Stefanski said with a laugh. "I grew up in Philly. I was a long-time listener of 610 WIP, so I understand the media role and I understand that for our fans that's an important part of the interest in this game. But I also know in my chair that I'm currently sitting in, that you can't listen to that type of stuff."
Stefanski has always touted his ability to not worry about things outside of the team during his six years in Cleveland. It's something he also tries to get his team to follow as well. That can be easier said than done.
His approach is a valid one. All he can really do is get back to work and try to get his team performing better in the week ahead. However, the fact of the matter is, with 11 games to go in the season, that noise around Stefanski is only going to grow louder, especially if the losing continues.
Sunday's matchup with the Miami Dolphins will be a revealing one in particular, as far as Stefanski's job status goes.
The Dolphins are on the brink of imploding, with a head coach in Mike McDaniel who is on a hot seat of his own. Whichever team loses the showdown will leave the weekend one step closer to considering a major change at head coach.
