One insider for the Cleveland Browns has added more fuel to the rumors going on with depth chart purposes between Shedeur Sanders and Taylen Green.

The Cleveland Browns are one of four teams across the league that have decided to bring four quarterbacks on the roster into the new season.

Cleveland wants to have options at the position, and this certainly gives head coach Todd Monken plenty of them. The team did announce veteran Deshaun Watson as the starter, but the move has been met with backlash.

However, Monken has defended his decision, hoping that the fans come around on the signal-caller. But with Shedeur Sanders waiting in the wings, it remains to be seen how long the fanbase will be patient.

Behind Sanders is second-year player Dillion Gabriel, but he's on the injured list due to a back problem. And finally, Taylen Green is the fourth quarterback on the roster, giving Cleveland a ton of depth.

Green, a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, has been making waves this offseason. There have been rumors about him potentially moving up the depth chart as the year goes on, even possibly taking over the backup role to Watson.

Adding more fuel to the fire, Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot addressed these rumors around Green leapfrogging Sanders.

“Stranger things have happened,” Cabot said. “I know that Todd Monken was excited on draft day about the possibility of using the 6-foot-6, 230-pound Green, who runs a 4.36 in the 40, in wildcat packages and other special situations.”

Green could provide the Browns with a decent option if the others were to struggle as the year goes on. The former Arkansas product looked good in the preseason, and he has impressed the coaching staff.

But for now, he will be the third quarterback on the Browns depth chart. Sanders would be first in line to start if Watson is ever benched, but Green seems to be waiting in the wings.

ESPN NFL analyst Seth Walder also put together bold predictions for each team this season. And for the Browns, Walder believes that Green could end up starting for the team this year.

"Quarterback Taylen Green will start at least four games. Perhaps there's no fourth-string player with an easier path to playing time than Green, a sixth-round pick out of Arkansas. I'm bearish on Watson, Sanders and Gabriel, so by the time the end of the season rolls around, I suspect the Browns will want to see if they have anything in Green," Walder wrote.

With the Browns rostering four quarterbacks to open the year, something like this is entirely possible. Cleveland doesn't have a long-term answer at the position, and this could be a good way for the team to keep pressure on whoever is under center.

The Browns will open the new year against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sept. 13.
