Browns Insider Calls for Major Front Office Shakeup cover image

The Cleveland Browns' front office is being criticized. What else is new?

The Cleveland Browns have long been one of the least successful organizations in professional sports, and it's because they keep repeating the same mistakes year after year.

It's not just that they can't seem to find a quarterback, either. It's that they can't seem to cultivate the properly environment to allow a signal-caller to grow.

Zac Jackson of The Athletic recently made an appearance on The Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show and aired his grievances with the front office, particularly when it comes to putting the proper pieces around a quarterback.

Jackson went as far to say that it's time for owner Jimmy Haslam to move on from both general manager Andrew Berry and head coach Kevin Stefanski.

"They went 3-14 last year and the offense they're trotting out this year is even worse," Jackson said. "To me there's a mountain of evidence that says it's just time to move on. ... They are consistently putting out an offense that has no chance. They didn’t address wide receiver in the draft, and they didn’t address O-line in the draft, and they drafted Dillon Gabriel in the top 100 and said he’s going to give it a shot, and he has no shot."

Jackson makes some outstanding points.

The fact that the Browns didn't take a wide receiver in the NFL Draft was puzzling then and it's even more bewildering now. Instead, they opted to take two running backs and two quarterbacks in a draft class that featured some rather impressive receiver talent from Rounds 1 through 7.

Instead, Cleveland signed Diontae Johnson shortly after the draft, and he didn't even make it out of training camp.

This was unquestionably a disastrous offseason for the Browns, and while they didn't have financial wiggle room to work with (and whose fault is that?), they could have patched up some significant holes in the draft. They didn't.

It's hard to genuinely blame Stefanski as a coach considering the product on the field is so bad, but he is also working in conjunction with Berry to put this roster together, and they have both done a terrible job.

With Cleveland owning a pair of first-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, it might genuinely be time for Haslam to shake things up.
