A Cleveland Browns insider has revealed a new quarterback update for the squad.

The Cleveland Browns are currently employing Shedeur Sanders as their starting quarterback heading into 2026, but that is certainly subject to change.

The Browns own a pair of first-round draft picks next month, and while this upcoming quarterback class is very thin, there is one name that has surfaced as a possibility for Cleveland: Ty Simpson.

Simpson is generally viewed as the second-best signal-caller in his class behind Fernando Mendoza, but the gap is pretty significant.

Some question if Simpson will even be a Day 1 pick, but with the Browns being so desperate for a solution under center, Simpson could land in Cleveland.

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com has provided an updated on the Browns' potential interest in Simpson, saying that Cleveland does appear to be intriguing by the University of Alabama product.

“The Browns like Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson, but it remains to be seen if they like him enough to take him in the first round, where he’s likely to go," Cabot wrote. "Simpson has started only 15 games — all last season — but exhibited some tantalizing traits, including quick processing, accuracy, arm strength and mobility."

Simpson threw for 3,567 yards, 28 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 64.5 percent of his passes in 2025.

Prior to last season, Simpson had thrown a grand total of 50 passes on the collegiate level, so his lack of experience is a red flag to some.

Typically, quarterbacks with less than 20 NCAA starts don't find much success in the NFL. At least not in recent years. As a result, many scouts are approaching Simpson with serious trepidation.

However, with the Browns so desperate for an answer at signal-caller, it stands to reason that they could pull the trigger on him.

Cleveland has picks at No. 6 and 24 in the first round, and it also owns the 39th overall selection in Round 2. Is it possible that Simpson could still be on the board by the time the Browns are on the clock on Day 2 next month?

Or will Cleveland actually consider taking Simpson at No. 24?

We'll see what happens, but it seems like the chances of the Browns nabbing Simpson are legitimate.
