The Cleveland Browns have released an updated injury report before their Week 1 game with the Jacksonville Jaguars

The Cleveland Browns are getting ready to kick off the new NFL season, taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1.

Ahead of the game, the Browns have released a new edition of the practice report, listing four players.

Defensive tackle Maliek Collins was listed as a limited participant with a quad injury. The same goes for center Parker Brailsford, who has a thumb injury.

Guard Teven Jenkins didn't practice on Thursday due to a back injury. This wasn't a great sign for Cleveland since Jenkins was limited in practice on Wednesday for the team.

But this could have just been out of caution for Jenkins, giving him a day off before the opening game of the year. However, it will certainly be something to monitor as the season opener draws closer in the coming days.

Additionally, star linebacker Carson Schwesinger practiced fully for the Browns. This is a good sign for his status on Sunday against Jacksonville, giving the Cleveland defense a boost.

Schwesinger fully broke out last season for the Browns, posting 156 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, and two interceptions, playing in 16 games. His performance was special and helped him earn the Defensive Rookie of the Year Award.

While the injury report is fairly clean for the Browns, there are real concerns around the quarterback position. Veteran Deshaun Watson will be the starter, despite missing the entire 2025 season due to injury.

Watson will be tasked with helping this team grow under first year head coach Todd Monken. The veteran isn't the same player that he was a few years ago, but the Browns aren't expecting him to do anything out of the ordinary.

Instead, the team is hopeful that he can lead the offense, showing strong command of the unit. Browns reporter Ashley Bastock gave an update on the expectations that Watson has for himself entering the crucial season.

“I think he’s very aware of his abilities that he’s not the same guy he was in 2020,” Bastock said. “He said that when he’s been asked about that before. And I don’t think he needs to be for all the reasons we’ve said. But I do think he has to play within himself, play smart and not make so many mistakes where you’re turning the ball over and it’s getting detrimental.”

Many people expect Watson to be benched at some point during the season, but that all remains to be seen. If he can put together a nice showing against the Jaguars, it could bring this team more confidence as the season goes along.
