The Cleveland Browns offense has gotten off to a great start due to this player.
The Cleveland Browns come into Week 6 of the NFL season with a record of 3-2 on the new year.
Cleveland has been one of the nicer surprises of the year in the league, with the Browns thinking about a possible playoff run. While there is a long way to go for this to happen, Cleveland has been playing much better than expected.
Under new head coach Todd Monken, the Browns have gotten contributions on both sides of the ball, leading to the success on the field. There has been a nice turnaround this year following a poor performance in Week 1 from this team.
The offense has been good to start, with the Browns getting strong performances from multiple players. But none have been better than rookie wide receiver Denzel Boston, who has emerged as a true weapon for this team this season.
So far this year, Boston has recorded 16 catches for 330 yards and three touchdowns, giving Cleveland's offense a boost. The second-round draft pick for the Browns leads the NFL with an average of 20.6 yards per catch as well.
His performance has earned him the title of being the biggest surprise of the season for the Browns so far, according to NFL analyst Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report. Cleveland knew that Boston was a good player coming into the NFL, but there weren't many who expected him to become the top option for quarterback Deshaun Watson.
Having someone like Boston has given Watson a chance to put together a strong start himself, and the duo has started to build some nice chemistry. Watson has slowly looked like his old self, showing real explosiveness and elusiveness out on the field, which the league hadn't seen from him in years.
Boston has helped energize this entire team, and the Browns seem to have a future star on their hands if he can keep up his strong play. There doesn't seem to be any slowing down for the rookie wideout, and Cleveland is going to keep placing him highly in the game plan.
If Boston keeps playing well, he could be in line to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year, but there is still a lot of the season left to decide that. But his start has been electric, and the former Washington product has started to really make waves around the NFL for himself this year.
