By hiring high-profile representation, the former Colorado standout signals a desire for a starting role elsewhere as Cleveland commits to Deshaun Watson for the foreseeable future.

Browns: Shedeur Sanders Makes Career Move That Could Lead to TradeMore Videos

Marvin Harrison Jr. made a business decision near the end of September, switching his representation to Tory Dandy and Todd France of Athletes First.

Weeks later, the Arizona Cardinals traded the No. 4 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft to the Houston Texans in exchange for draft compensation, including a 20027 second-round pick.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders made a move that will invite curiosity about his trade value before the deadline on Nov. 10.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Sanders signed with Adie von Gontard, Cat of Young Money APAA Sports, to represent him. Sanders previously did not have an agent. Gontard represents Sanders' former Colorado teammate, Travis Hunter.

The Browns had a quarterback competition between Sanders and Deshaun Watson this summer. Despite Watson taking a crack at the Browns fan base, head coach Todd Monken named Watson as the starter for Week 1. After struggling in the season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Watson has led the Browns to a 3-2 record.

Watson has thrown for 1,010 yards, seven touchdowns, and two interceptions this season through the first five games. He's added 167 yards on the ground. Sanders has attempted only one pass this season.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano suggested that Watson will be given more starts this season after his early success in Stefanski’s offense. Graziano doesn't believe Cleveland would start Sanders unless Watson suffers an injury.

With that being said, Graziano also doesn't believe the Browns’ starting quarterback for 2027 is on the team's current depth chart.

Cleveland has Watson, Sanders, and rookie Taylen Green on the 53-man roster. The Browns  designated Gabriel to return to practice last week after he started the campaign on injured reserve.

If the Browns are set to look for a new quarterback for next season, Texas may as well explore getting draft capital in return for one of their quarterbacks.

Von Gontard can help facilitate a trade for Sanders behind the scenes. Sanders, a fifth-round pick in last year's draft, was a standout at Colorado. He went 3-4 as a starter for Cleveland last year, throwing for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.

No doubt, Sanders wants an opportunity to start somewhere in the league. There could be a market for Sanders if an injury hits a team at quarterback in the next few weeks.

But it doesn't appear the Browns have a plan for Sanders in the near or long-term future.
