Browns Somehow Rise in NFL Power Rankings Despite Bears Loss cover image

The Cleveland Browns are 3-11 on the season.

Despite getting blown out by the Chicago Bears by a final score of 31-3 to drop to 3-11 on the season, the Cleveland Browns somehow rose in NFL.com's latest power rankings.

Eric Edholm has the Browns at 28 instead of 29 now. Only the New York Jets (29), New York Giants (30), Tennessee Titans (31) and Las Vegas Raiders (32) are below Cleveland.

"Two things I'll be tracking in the Browns' final three games: whether Myles Garrett can break the sack record and whether they can win another game," Edholm wrote. "If we take owner Jimmy Haslam at his word from back in July, once again going '3-14 won't cut it.' The Browns sit at 3-11, with the Bills and Steelers coming to Cleveland in the next two weeks before the regular-season finale at Cincinnati.

"The entire franchise feels like it's again at a flashpoint, with Shedeur Sanders taking a step back on Sunday against the Bears, throwing three interceptions (even if one wasn't his fault). Kevin Stefanski might be a two-time Coach of the Year, but the wind is blowing pretty stiffly in his (and his team's) face right now."

The Browns have three games left in the regular season. They are 29th in the NFL in points per game and 19th in points per game allowed.

Cleveland will once again have a top pick in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Will the franchise use it on a QB again? It's possible since Sanders and Dillon Gabriel have struggled this season. The rookies have combined to throw eight interceptions.

The other big question is whether HC Kevin Stefanski will be fired. Stefanski, who received an extension prior to the 2024 season, is 43-55 in the regular season and 1-1-2 in the playoffs as the Browns' head coach. The 43 wins are the most of any head coach in the expansion era.

"I don't get into those type of things," Stefanski said on Monday. "My focus, our football team's focus, is solely on the Buffalo Bills. Obviously watching the tape today, that's our focus. That's all we really care about."

The Browns face the Bills next. They will likely lose that game to drop to 3-12.
