One of the star cornerbacks from the Cleveland Browns has been named as a possible trade candidate.
The Cleveland Browns didn't have much going right in Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, getting blown off the field.
Cleveland will try to bounce back in Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but it could be tough. This roster isn't the greatest as a whole, but the Browns do have some separate pieces that are talented.
This could see them be active around the trade deadline if the team were to continue to struggle. Cleveland may want to look toward the future, adding some more draft picks to help build past this season.
NFL analyst Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report looked at potential trade candidates entering Week 2, and the Browns had one defender listed. Cornerback Tyson Campbell was named on this list, giving some thought to Cleveland possibly moving him down the line.
"No one expected the Browns to be particularly good in 2026. If Week 1 is an accurate indication, though, Cleveland is even worse than everyone thought. Deshaun Watson continues to look like a quarterback who can't get it done. Both Todd Monken and defensive coordinator Mike Rutenberg appear to be in over their heads.
"The Browns should be looking to chase 2027 draft capital in their pursuit of a quality quarterback. Starting corner Tyson Campbell could potentially bring some. He started 12 games for Cleveland last season and allowed an opposing passer rating of just 84.8 in coverage," Knox said.
Campbell recorded seven sacks in the loss to the Jaguars, but like the rest of the defense, he couldn't stop much. But the veteran could be a valuable trade piece for the Browns, and the team may want to consider selling him at the deadline.
The cornerback is under contract through the 2028 season, giving interested teams a chance to grab a player for more than one year. Campbell is making $19.1 million a season, but he is a quality cornerback who could help any secondary.
The veteran came to the Browns last year after a trade with the Jaguars, and he could likely net Cleveland some future assets. Campbell was a former second-round pick of Jacksonville out of the Georgia Bulldogs.
For now, Campbell will keep trying to help the Browns win as many games as possible, and there is an element of pride as a veteran player. But if this team does continue to fall short on the field, players like Campbell could easily be on the move before the trade deadline.
