All four Cleveland Browns QBs will remain with the team beyond the NFL's 53-man roster cut-down. Find out who else made the cut.
Following an eventful training camp and preseason for the Cleveland Browns, the team officially reduced its roster to 53 players ahead of the regular season.
Recent days brought plenty of speculation over how general manager Andrew Berry and head coach Todd Monken would maneuver the depth chart in several key areas, like quarterback, where keeping all four became a reality, granted not in the way anyone expected.
Similarly, how they'd manage certain position groups that lack meaningful depth was an interesting conundrum.
Keeping in mind that this initial version of the Browns' 53-man roster is very much subject to change, here's where things stand with the group as of the NFL's official deadline.
Quarterbacks (3): Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders, Taylen Green
After speculation over how the Browns would handle the QB room, they end up with three on the initial 53, but technically kept all four (see below on Dillon Gabriel).
Running Backs/Full Backs (4): Quinshon Judkins, Dylan Sampson, Raheim Sanders, Michael Burton
Sanders cemented himself as the third RB over the last couple weeks. Burton, despite missing a lot of camp with an injury was always a priority.
Tight Ends (3): Harold Fannin Jr., Blake Whiteheart, Carsen Ryan
This is a group that Monken even mentioned could be subject to change. Stay tuned.
Wide Receivers (6): Jerry Jeudy, KC Concepcion, Denzel Boston, Isaiah Bond, Tylan Wallace, Malachi Corley
The first five were obvious. It all came down to the sixth spot and despite his best efforts, Luke Floriea ends up missing the cut in favor of Corley.
Offensive Line (10): Spencer Fano, Tytus Howard, Elgton Jenkins, Zion Johnson, Parker Brailsford, Teven Jenkins, Dawand Jones, Austin Barber, Zak Zinter, Luke Wypler
The last couple spots were in question going into Thursday's preseason finale. Ultimately, the Browns brass opted for retaining Zinter and Wypler and let KT Leveston go.
Defensive Line (9): Jared Verse, Maliek Collins, Mason Graham, Isaiah McGuire, Derek Barnett, Kalia Davis, Adin Huntington, Mike Hall Jr., Julian Okwara
There was maybe one spot that was up for grabs and Okwara gets it. Still could be a room where Berry looks to add via waivers.
Linebackers (5): Carson Schwesinger, Quincy Williams, Justin Jefferson, Easton Mascarenas-Arnold, Winston Reid
No surprises here. Pretty straightforward group.
Cornerbacks (5): Denzel Ward, Tyson Campbell, Myles Harden, Mekhi Blackmon, Michael Coats Jr.
Depth is an issue in this group, but Michael Coats Jr. is the only undrafted rookie to crack the 53 on the entire team.
Safeties (5): Grant Delpit, Ronnie Hickman, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, Donovan McMillon, Daniel Thomas
Given the lack of cornerback depth, the Browns opted for keeping an extra safety in the form of Daniel Thomas, who signed with the team as a free agent this offseason.
Specialists (3): Andre Szmyt, Corey Bojorquez, Rex Sunahara
Despite some still punting competition, Bojorquez holds onto the starting punter role.
Other Notable Moves
Dillon Gabriel goes to the IR with a back injury and must miss the first four games of the season at least.
Rookie TE Joe Royer goes to the Reserve/NFI list as he continues to be absent from the team for personal reasons. He must sit out the first four games at least.
