Browns' Veteran Lineman Unsure of Future With Browns cover image

As Wyatt Teller heads to the IR ahead of Week 18, it could mark the official end of his Cleveland Browns tenure

On Wednesday the Cleveland Browns placed guard Wyatt Teller on the IR, after the eight-year veteran reaggravated a calf injury that has bothered him for several weeks now.

The move officially ended Teller's 2025 campaign, and may have officially brought his tenure with the Browns to an end as well.

After Wednesday's practice, Teller was asked about his future with the team and made his intentions regarding his future very clear.

"I was emotional on game day cause, you start getting a bunch of emotions, just being on the field," Teller said of how he felt taking the field this past weekend. "But, no? Yes? No? Right. I'm not, I don't want it to be [the end in Cleveland], but if it is, it is. And I enjoyed my time here."

Teller played just nine snaps in this past weekend's loss to the Steelers, before exiting due to the aforementioned calf issue flaring up early on. He was making his first start since Week 13 vs. the San Francisco 49ers, which is when he first sustained the injury.

That game was Teller's 100th career start, but he spent most of the contest in a rotation with fellow veteran guard Teven Jenkins. That was once again the case this past weekend.

Those nine snaps against Pittsburgh could very well be the final nine snaps Teller takes in a Cleveland uniform as he prepares to hit free agency in a few short months after playing out the final year of his contract.

Teller first joined the Browns in 2019, via a trade with the Buffalo Bills that included a 2021 seventh-round pick, for two day three picks in 2020. Under the guidance of legendary offensive line coach Bill Callahan, who was with the franchise up until last season, Teller became one of the best guards in football, making three straight Pro Bowl appearances from 2021-2023. He also earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2020 and 2021.

The 31-year-old has continually said he doesn't want to leave, but as Cleveland enters a transitional phase, that could include changes in leadership in the coming days, it's unclear if he'll be part of the team's future plans or not.
