Riding a defensive surge and first-place status, Cleveland heads to Nashville as a rare road favorite over the Tennessee Titans. Our experts break down whether the Browns can finally dominate early and win.
At 4-2 and in first place in the AFC North, the Cleveland Browns are starting to really earn some respect across the NFL, but a loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 7 would erase some of that good will they've built up in recent weeks.
Aside from their records, these two teams are oddly similar. Their defenses tend to carry them and keep games close, while their offenses tend to struggle, particularly early on in games. Cleveland is well-equipped to win those slog-style games, but will they slip up in the Music City?
Here are our predictions for Week 7.
Who Wins?
Anthony Moeglin
It’s a Cleveland Browns party on Broadway this weekend in Nashville, Tennessee. The Browns come into this game as the favorite for the first time all season and probably the last time all season. They have a chance to get to 5-2 on the year and stay in first place. They get it done on Sunday against the Titans.
Spencer German
Last week was a barometer game to assess how the Browns stack up with a legitimate Super Bowl contender, even if that contender was missing it's MVP quarterback. But this week, in some ways is an even bigger test of whether or not the Browns are as good as their record says they are. Great teams beat the teams they're supposed to beat and Cleveland does just that on Sunday to improve to 5-2.
Do They Cover?
Anthony
Yes, it is basically a Pick 'Em heading into Sunday. Cleveland is -1.5 favorites in this one, and I see a 20-3 winner for Cleveland where the defense shuts it down, and the offense gets it going a little bit on Sunday.
Spencer
This one is basically a Pick 'em with the Browns being listed as favorites for the first time this season (and on the road nonetheless) by 1.5. I think that means they easily cover, with a 17-9 victory.
Bold Prediction
Anthony
A 300-yard day for Deshaun Watson
I'm 0-6 on bold predictions this year, so let's go way out there. Deshaun Watson throws for 300 yards on Sunday for the first time in his Cleveland Browns career. It would be a monumental day down in Tennessee if this bold prediction comes true.
Spencer
The Browns score 7 on their opening drive
Despite Todd Monken's presence as an elite offensive mind, the Browns have yet to score on an opening drive this season. They've also only scored six points in the first quarter this season. In a game featuring two struggling offenses, the one that gets off to a better start could be in the driver's seat for a win. Finally, Cleveland gets to play with a lead.
