The Cleveland Browns were very quiet at the trade deadline, only jettisoning edge rusher Joe Tryon-Shoyinka. Everyone else who was expected to move stayed put.
That included offensive lineman Wyatt Teller, who is in the final year of his contract and is clearly not the same player who made three straight Pro Bowls between 2021 and 2023.
Many expected the Browns to ship out Teller before Nov. 4, but they opted to hold on to him. Not only that, but they may even view the 31-year-old as a part of their future, per Zac Jackson of The Athletic.
"There probably was never a realistic trade to be made this week that would have brought the Browns an additional second- or third-round pick. Given the state of the offensive line, getting a new deal done for Wyatt Teller figures to be a priority either later this season or in early 2026," Jackson wrote.
Cleveland's offensive line — which was a major strength a couple of years ago — has certainly devolved into an absolute mess, thanks much in part to the decline of veterans like Teller, Joel Bitonio and Jack Conklin, the latter of whom still can't seem to stay healthy.

Considering that the Browns' offensive line has been aging, there seemed to be momentum toward the team retooling in the trenches, but it appears that Cleveland may want to stick with what it has to some degree.
Teller has managed a 63.5 overall grade at Pro Football Focus this season, posting a 66.1 run-blocking grade and a 54.9 grade in pass protection.
The Browns initially landed Teller via trade with the Buffalo Bills back in August 2019. It didn't take Teller long to become a full-time starter in Cleveland, and pretty soon after being acquired, he established himself as one of the best interior offensive linemen in football.
The Virginia Tech product signed a four-year, $56.8 million contract extension with the Browns back in November 2021. Apparently, the Browns are keen on giving him another deal, although you have to figure this one would be a short-term deal that is far less lucrative.
We'll see what Cleveland decides to do in the offseason.
The Browns are 2-6 and will face the New York Jets this Sunday.
