Cleveland Browns superstar Myles Garrett was issued a citation for speeding after he was clocked going 94 mph in a 70 mph zone on the interstate in Northeast Ohio last month, according to court records.
It is Garrett's ninth speeding ticket since entering the league in 2017.
Garrett was pulled over at 1:35 a.m. on Feb. 21 in Wooster, Ohio, according to records. He was given a court date of next Tuesday but won't have to appear if he pays the fine.
Last August, Garrett was given a ticket for speeding in a Cleveland suburb after he was clocked going 100 mph in a 60 mph zone.
In 2022, Garrett was issued a citation for "failure to control his motor vehicle" in the aftermath of a single-car crash that left him with a left shoulder sprain and right biceps strain after his vehicle went off the side of the road and flipped over. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Garrett was driving at 65 mph on a road with a 45 mph speed limit -- an "unsafe speed for the type of roadway" he was on -- according to the crash report obtained by ESPN.
Garrett requested a trade from the Browns last February. One month later, Cleveland signed the defensive end to a four-year extension averaging $40 million per year and including $123 million in guaranteed money.
A future Hall of Famer, Garrett is under contract with the Browns for the next five seasons. Along with the no-trade clause, Garrett's new deal included $100 million in the first three years, $1 million in yearly workout bonuses and $88.8 million in execution guarantees.
The Browns went 5-12 last season despite Garrett breaking the single-season sack record. Garrett had 23.0 sacks, 43 solo tackles, 33 tackles for loss and 39 QB hits this season.
Cleveland would incur $41 million in dead cap charges if it trades Garrett this offseason, according to NFL insider Dan Graziano of ESPN, but the Browns will not trade Garrett, who has spent his entire NFL career with Cleveland.
Since entering the NFL in 2017, Garrett has racked up 125.5 sacks. He deserves to play for a winning franchise and the Browns are not close to earning that title.
