Denzel Boston is making play after play for the Cleveland Browns.
The Cleveland Browns selected Denzel Boston with the 39th overall pick in the 2026 draft out of Washington and the rookie is making play after play in training camp.
According to Browns reporter Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN, Boston "was one of the standouts from the spring offseason workout program and has continued stacking strong performances in training camp. He had one of the catches of camp, leaping over a defensive back along the sideline to bring in a pass from quarterback Shedeur Sanders in 7-on-7s."
Boston could make an immediate impact in the red zone, where his size, reliable hands and hard-nosed mentality could help the Browns take a long-awaited step forward in the AFC North.
For Washington in 2025, Boston put up 62 receptions for 881 receiving yards and 11 receiving touchdowns. He finished his college career with 132 receptions for 1,781 receiving yards and 20 receiving touchdowns.
The Browns got an elite competitor in Boston. After he was considered a consensus first-round pick throughout the draft process, Boston's fall out of the first round may add a chip on his shoulder as he looks to make his mark at the next level.
"My whole goal when I go against a defender is I don't want him to be able to go home and be happy to be around his family," Boston said in an interview on 92.3 The Fan. "I want him to feel that from that game. That's the mentality that I'm bringing to the Cleveland Browns."
We'll see who Boston is catching passes from in the regular season. The Browns will start Shedeur Sanders or Deshaun Watson.
Sanders finished his rookie season with 1,400 passing yards, seven passing touchdowns, 10 interceptions, 169 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. He went 3-4 as a starter.
Meanwhile, Watson didn't play last season. He was recovering from the Achilles tear he suffered during the 2024 season.
Since making his Browns debut, Watson has posted a 33.1 Total QBR, the lowest among qualified passers. The odds of the former Houston Texans star turning back the clock after an Achilles tear are pretty low, which is why many NFL pundits believe Cleveland should start Shedeur so the team can fully evaluate him for an entire season.
Cleveland faces Jacksonville in Week 1. It will be interesting to see who is under center for the Browns. ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano believes Watson will start Week 1 and Sanders "will play a representative number of games this season."
