The highlight, the anticipated joint practice with the Buffalo Bills arrived on Thursday. Here's everything that happened during the eventful session.

Day 17 was a day that everyone circled on the Cleveland Browns training camp schedule as they welcomed the Buffalo Bills to the team facility in Berea for their one joint practice. It was an eventful.

Keep tabs on each day of training camp with our daily recaps from Berea.

Joint Practice Headlines

Quarterbacks

The joint practice was meant to be an important evaluation day for Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders and as promised, Todd Monken split the first team reps between the two.

Early on, both quarterbacks found some success throwing the football, and Watson in particular had a few truly highlight-worthy throws to KC Concepcion.

It wasn't all good for the veteran QB, though, as Watson posted a brutal red zone session that saw him miss Harold Fannin Jr. on an easy route off in the flat. He then turned around and threw an interception to Jordan Hancock, looking to squeeze one in to Isaiah Bond on a slant route.

He finished with a successful two-minute drive, granted there was a clear emphasis on running the football, as Watson threw just one pass. Sanders two-minute drive ended in a scramble after he mistakenly took a sack with about 15 seconds left on the clock and no timeouts, then had to rush to the line to throw a 50-50 shot to Denzel Boston in the corner of the end zone for one final play and it fell incomplete.

It was a rough way for Sanders to end practice, but he had his moments, particularly in a third-down session and in the red zone work. He'll make the start on Saturday, for his last chance to put something on tape for Monken to choose a starter.

Dillon Gabriel worked in on four different sessions and had a handful of nice throws throughout the day. He was continually third in the order behind Watson and Sanders as has been the case.

And for the first time in two weeks, Taylan Green saw some action in team drills and truly made the most of it. His red zone session featured an incredible corner fade throw to Tylan Wallace for a touchdown and a scramble for a touchdown. It's officially Taylen Green season.

O-Line Roulette

The Browns had their projected first-team o-line all together on Thursday. It featured

Tytus Howard at RT, Teven Jenkins at RG, Elgton Jenkins at C, Zion Johnson at LG, Spencer Fano at LT.

The second group looked like it had in recent days:

Dawand Jones at RT, Austin Barber at RG, Luke Wypler at C, Zak Zinter at LG and KT Leveston at LT.

A quick side note: Fano was awesome throughout practice and has grown immensely from Day 1 to today's joint practice. Also, he and his o-line mates had a strong day as an entire unit. They protected both quarterbacks well and, as practice progressed, started creating some good running lanes as well.

Injuries and Absences

Once again, no Joe Royer and DT Maliek Collins remains on the PUP list.

The biggest injury news of the day came at the expense of DE Alex Wright, who appeared to suffer a non-contact leg injury during individual o-line vs. d-line drills and had to be carted off. No word yet on the severity, but if it's serious, the Browns DE depth is in serious jeopardy.

The biggest absence of the day was Quinshon Judkins, who Monken noted is dealing with "something a little nagging," and missed practice for a second consecutive day.

The rest of the list of guys not practicing included: Carson Schwesinger, Cedric Tillman, Michael Burton, Parker Brailsford, Tyreak Sapp, Kalia Davis.

Meanwhile, D'Angelo Ross and Sam Kamara were back at practice for the first time in over a week.

Chunk Plays

The Browns defense has been so dominant throughout camp that it's felt very routine at times, but working against your own offense is different than working against another offense. Thursday was a good test for just how good this group can be, and it wasn't all good.

One thing that stood out was the number of chunk plays they seemed to give up at times. That included a bomb from Josh Allen to Dalton Kincaid for a touchdown during the two-minute offense session at the end of practice. The Bills tight ends in particular, scored a lot of touchdowns, which may be a trend to keep an eye on.

Play of the Day

During the two-minute offense 11-on-11 session to end practice, Raheim Sanders pulled the okey-doke on an outside zone run that the Bills defense had snuffed out. It made for one of the biggest highlights of the day and a fun one toward the end of practice.

Player of the Day

The stage is simply never too big for KC Concepcion. His preseason debut was solid against the Bears last Saturday, and he continued to look like an absolute star during Thursday's joint practice with the Bills. He had a few big highlights during the practice, but the best play came on a seam route where Deshaun Watson hit him on an absolute strike on a seam route between Cover-2 safeties. Just the beginning for the No. 24 overall pick.

Quote of the Day

Immediately after practice, Todd Monken used a four-letter word to show just how excited he was about the joint practice.

"God, was that a lot of fun? Holy s***. It’s fun to compete against someone else. Their guys, our guys, I’ve got a lot of respect for the Bills. It got a little edgy, but not over the top. And that’s exactly what you’re looking for. Guys want to compete, right? They’ve got a lot of pride in the way they perform. I thought our guys – I can only speak to one side, obviously the field I was on, but it was awesome. Commend the Bills and our guys for taking it to the line but not going over the line."

What's Next?

Friday is an off day, before the Bills and Browns meet at Huntington Bank Field for preseason game No. 2 on Saturday afterHC
