Jared Verse had a simple message to the Los Angeles Rams after getting traded to the Cleveland Browns.
After the Los Angeles Rams traded him to the Cleveland Browns for Myles Garrett, Jared Verse met with his Rams teammates and delivered one final message.
In an interview with Browns broadcaster Nathan Zegura, Verse revealed what he told his Rams teammates after getting traded to Cleveland.
"I said it sucks I'm not going to be here," Verse said. "I love you guys to death. You guys are going to go out there, you guys are going to dominate, you guys are going to do everything you can do and you guys are going to play the best you can. You guys got 17 games for sure. Who knows what's going to happen after that, but just go dominate.
"And I told them the most important thing, make sure, and I'm not going to cuss, make sure you beat the Seahawks. That's all I care about."
Verse and the Rams lost to the Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game last season.
Before getting traded to the Browns, Verse said earlier this offseason that he hates Seattle.
"They're a division rival, all that good stuff. But like I genuinely don't like them," Verse said in February. "Like, l got a disdain in my heart for them. Like, I hate them. I don't like the Seahawks at all. There's nothing I like about them. I don't like their players. There's nobody I like about their staff. I don't like them."
A two-time Pro Bowler, Verse will now be tasked with turning the Browns franchise around. Verse, though, told reporters that he's not in Cleveland to replace Garrett, who is the best defender in the NFL.
Instead, Verse wants to create his own legacy with the Browns.
"I'm not here to fill [Garrett's] shoes," Verse said. "I'm here to bring my own ... I'm here to work, and I'm here to be the best version of me. And the best version of me is going to be the best defensive player in the league. And the best defensive player in the league is going to play for the best defense in the league."
Verse won the 2024 Defensive Rookie of the Year Award with the Rams. He enters next season with 12.0 sacks, 71 solo tackles, 22 tackles for loss and 45 QB hits.
