Despite a reduced role, the veteran wideout’s late-game heroics against Baltimore vaulted the Cleveland Browns into first place, proving his readiness to deliver whenever his number is called

There's a reason football is called the ultimate team game. So often, it takes players from all corners of the roster to win games.

That was certainly the case in the Cleveland Browns' 13-10 win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 6, where it took all three phases to pull off a stunning victory to improve to 4-2 on the season. The win also thrust the Browns squarely into first place in the AFC North.

Arguably, the biggest play of the game came from an unsuspecting player.

With the Browns facing a third-and-five from their own 38, deadlocked with the Ravens at 10 a piece with 42 seconds to go, Deshaun Watson dropped back to pass and delivered a strike to Jerry Jeudy on a dig route over the middle of the field. Jeudy did the rest, accelerating after the catch for some extra yardage and bringing Cleveland deep into Baltimore territory.

The 33-yard catch advanced the Browns to the Ravens 29 and eventually set up Andre Szmyt's game-winning 37-yard FG. It's not the first time Jeudy has delivered a critical catch in crunch time this season. And in a year where Jeudy's seen his role scaled back massively in favor of the team's two rookie wideouts, KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston, he's found ways to make a major impact regardless.

'It's pretty difficult as a receiver, you know, wanting to be out there to compete, want to be involved in the game plan, you know, want to go out there and make plays," admitted Jeudy post-game. "But you can't let that discourage you. You got to stay focused and wait your turn week-by-week. And eventually your turn— once your number is called, make a play. You know, that's what I did."

Back in Week 4, Jeudy delivered a similar moment on an even grander stage of Thursday Night Football. With Cleveland tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers at 24 apiece and under two minutes to play, Jeudy delivered two key catches.

The first was a 17-yarder on first-and-ten from its own 26 that advanced the ball just shy of midfield. Three plays later, on second-and-three from the 50, Watson found Jeudy again for a 10-yard gain that put the Browns on the fringe of field goal range. That time Szmyt banged a 56-yarder to win it.

Monken stopped short of giving Jeudy a game ball after that game. He had no choice after he delivered another game-winning moment in Week 6, capping off what was his best performance of the season: four catches for 69 yards.

“I gave him a game ball and he deserves it," Monken said. "We’re better on offense when Jerry’s a part of it, and I can certainly do a better job of incorporating him in it ... And that credit goes to him, and his decision to say, ‘alright, this is where it’s at. I’m going all in.'

"And what I mean by this, 'where it’s at' with KC (Concepcion) and 12 (Denzel Boston), right ... Like, okay, this is where it’s at. And as a man, he said, ‘I’m going to battle and I’m going to fight, and I want to be a part of this team, and I want to help make plays."

Jeudy's unselfishness and patience have paid off. And the Browns have him to thank for at least two of their wins this season. The 27-year-old appreciated Monken shouting him out postgame.

"It means a lot, you know, being able to help my team win, doing whatever I can, getting a game ball, you know. It means a lot, so yeah, I'm very thankful," he said.

In many respects, Jeudy's late-game heroics are symbolic of the identity of the 2026 Cleveland Browns. No matter what's played out in the plays, series, quarters or games before, they're seemingly always faced with an opportunity to win the game late and pull it off. Sunday's win marked the fourth instance this season that they've pulled off a game-winning drive in the fourth quarter to win.

Jeudy revealed the secret to their clutchness.

"Man, we got some dogs, man. We got some dogs," he said. "We don't quit. You know, we play to the last Last play of the game, we gonna finish strong no matter the scoreboard. Like I said  we gonna finish and find a way to win at the end of the day."

Against all odds the Browns are 4-2 and in first place in the AFC North. And when they're faced with another fourth-quarter game-on-the-line situation, no one should be surprised if they pull it off again. And no one should be surprised if Jeudy is there making one of the biggest plays.
