Only one player has been ruled out for the Cleveland Browns' matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers, while 6 are listed as questionable
Shedeur Sanders' may not have his favorite target on Sunday when the Cleveland Browns host the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Tight end Harold Fannin Jr. popped up on the team's injury report on Friday with groin issue that now threatens the rookie's availability for Week 17.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski wouldn't speculate on whether or not Fannin was trending one direction or another ahead of Sunday. Fannin himself said in the locker room later on that he expects to play, and that being pulled from practice on Friday was precautionary.
Similarly, rookie QB Dillon Gabriel was a late addition to the injury report as he was also added to the list of questionable players on Friday, due to a shoulder injury. Stefanski said it's likely the team will elevate veteran Bailey Zappe from the practice squad on Saturday, in case he needs to be the primary backup to Sanders.
The rest of the group consists of RB Dylan Sampson, DL Sam Kamara, CB Myles Harden and G Wyatt Teller.
Sampson is in line to be the Browns' lead back if he's cleared in time for kickoff, after Quinshon Judkins suffered a fractured fibula that ended his season. Trayveon Williams and Raheim Sanders shared the lead running back role after Judkins exited Cleveland's loss to the Buffalo Bills last week, and are likely to be part of the plans in the backfield even if Sampson is cleared.
Wyatt Teller, a calf injury has kept him out of action for the last three weeks. It's an ailment he suffered against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 13. He was also questionable last week, but ultimately didn't play. This week, he'll hope for a different result in terms of his availability ahead of kickoff.
Additionally, Harden is dealing with a shoulder injury and was seen walking inside early toward the end of the open portion of practice on Friday. Kamara is working through an elbow injury. Both were limited throughout the week.
Meanwhile, tight end David Njoku will miss his third straight game this weekend. The nine-year vet suffered a knee injury against the Tennessee Titans in Week 14 and has been unable to work his way back onto the field.
After not practicing at all this week, Njoku is the only player ruled out at this point
On the bright side, Friday brought and end to a multi-week absence for Pro Bowl CB Denzel Ward, who has been dealing with a calf injury these last two weeks. After being limited this week, Ward is cleared to play for the first time since Week 14.
