Could Cleveland Browns GM Andrew Berry pull off another big-time WR trade to land Philadelphia Eagles wideout A.J. Brown?

It's no secret that one of the Cleveland Browns biggest needs this offseason is wide receiver.

Considering that they own two first-round picks this year, there's plenty of speculation that Executive Vice President of Football Operations Andrew Berry will use at least one of those selections to draft a wideout. However, he could take a different approach to addressing Cleveland's need for a pass catcher.

ESPN's Jermey Fowler brought an interesting proposal to the table for the Browns to pull off a blockbuster trade for Philadelphia Eagles star wideout A.J. Brown. In Fowler's hypothetical deal, Cleveland would trade the latter of those two first-round picks, pick No. 24 overall, to Philly to acquire Brown.

Here's his explanation:

The Browns have two first-round picks (Nos. 6 and 24) after the Travis Hunter trade in April 2025. They could use No. 6 on an offensive lineman and send No. 24 to the Eagles in exchange for Brown. This would immediately upgrade new head coach Todd Monken's offense, giving the passing game a fighting chance alongside an already stout defense.

Fowler went on to mention that Berry has plenty of rapport with Eagles' long-time GM Howie Roseman, after spending the 2019 season working under his tutelage in Philadelphia.

Relationships certainly matter in these types of situations and certainly could come in play here, too. So are a GM's tendencies, and Berry is no stranger to pulling off trades for big-name wide receivers.

In fact, the most productive pass catchers to suit up for the Browns under Berry all came via trades. That list, notably, includes Amari Cooper, who was acquired in 2022 for a fifth-round pick and a swap of sixth-round picks.

In two-and-a-half seasons in Cleveland, Cooper racked up 174 receptions, 2,660 yards, and 16 touchdowns. He also became the first receiver in franchise history to post back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons.

After acquiring Jerry Jeudy via trade ahead of the 2024 season for two day-three picks, the former first-round pick went on to post the best season of his career with 1,229 yards and four touchdowns.

Those deals have certainly paid off for Berry in the past. Perhaps another one for Brown could work out similarly.
