This NFL trade idea sees the Cleveland Browns part ways with Dillon Gabriel.
NFL analyst Moe Moton of Bleacher Report believes the Cleveland Browns should trade Dillon Gabriel.
Moton thinks the Browns should trade Gabriel for a late 2027 pick.
Cleveland has four QBs: Gabriel, Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders and Taylen Green. Gabriel is expected to be No. 3 or 4 on the depth chart, so the Browns might as well trade him for a future draft pick.
Gabriel finished his rookie season with 937 passing yards, seven passing touchdowns and two interceptions. The lefty completed only 59.5% of his passes and went 1-5 as a starter before getting benched for Sanders.
There really is no point in Cleveland having four QBs on the roster. Trading Gabriel and getting some draft picks for him seems like the smart play.
For what it's worth, new Browns head coach Todd Monken seems to be a fan of Gabriel.
"What I have liked with Dillon is the way he goes about his business," Monken said about Gabriel. "Very professional, highly intelligent, understands football, has a certain charisma about him and a confidence that's hard to create. You saw it throughout his career. You don't go to three different programs and have the success he had if he doesn’t have a belief in himself."
It will be fascinating to see what the Browns do with Gabriel. Cleveland opens the 2026 season against the Jacksonville Jaguars. If Gabriel is still on the Browns, it would be poor asset management by Andrew Berry.
Watson or Sanders will be the Browns' starting QB next season. The Browns will use training camp and the preseason to determine who will start Week 1.
