An NFL trade idea sending a 23-year-old Pro Bowler to the Cleveland Browns has emerged.
An NFL trade idea sending a 23-year-old Pro Bowler to the Cleveland Browns has been created.
Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report created the following trade idea between the Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars:
Cleveland Browns Receive: WR Brian Thomas Jr.
Jacksonville Jaguars Receive: 2026 Round 1 Pick (24), 2026 Round 4 Pick (107)
Thomas Jr. appeared in 14 games for the Jaguars last season. He caught 48 balls for 707 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.
A LSU product, Thomas Jr. made the Pro Bowl in 2024 as a rookie. He put up 1,282 receiving yards on 87 receptions and caught 10 touchdowns.
Cleveland needs more playmakers on offense, which is why Davenport believes the Browns' front office should pursue a trade for Thomas Jr. This trade idea would pair Thomas Jr. with Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson. Either Sanders or Watson will start at QB for the Browns next season.
The Browns' best WR right now is Jerry Jeudy, who put up 50 catches for 602 yards and two touchdowns last season. He never got on the same page with Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel or Sanders. Adding Thomas Jr. next to Jeudy would make Cleveland more explosive.
Sanders finished his rookie season with 1,400 passing yards, seven passing touchdowns, 10 interceptions, 169 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. He went 3-4 as a starter.
Sanders was named to the Pro Bowl as a replacement selection. He's one of the most popular players in the NFL because of who his dad is: Hall of Famer Deion Sanders.
Suspension and injuries have limited Watson to 19 games since he arrived in Cleveland. Since making his Browns debut, Watson has posted a 33.1 Total QBR, which would be the lowest among qualified passers.
Cleveland went 5-12 last season. Todd Monken replaced Kevin Stefanski, who was fired and joined the Atlanta Falcons as their new HC.
The Browns have the sixth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. It will be fascinating to see who they select and if they pursue a trade for Thomas Jr.
