Should the Cleveland Browns make this trade?
A blockbuster NFL trade idea where the Cleveland Browns acquire four draft picks has been created.
Alex Kay of Bleacher Report created the following trade idea between the Browns and New England Patriots:
Patriots receive: Edge Myles Garrett
Browns receive: 2026 1st-Round Pick, 2026 3rd-Round Pick, 2027 1st-Round Pick, 2027 3rd-Round Pick
This trade idea can only happen if Garrett requests a trade from the Browns and picks the Patriots as his next team. The superstar defender has a no-trade clause in his contract.
Garrett requested a trade from the Browns in February. One month later, Cleveland signed the defensive end to a four-year extension that averages $40 million per year and includes $123 million guaranteed.
Garrett is under contract with the Browns for the next six seasons. Along with the no-trade clause, Garrett's new deal includes $100 million in the first three years, $1 million in yearly workout bonuses and $88.8 million in execution guarantees.
One of the greatest defenders of all time, Garrett is having another stellar season. He has 15.0 sacks, which leads the NFL, and 22 tackles for loss, which also leads the NFL. However, the Browns are only 2-8.
Garrett deserves to play for a winning franchise. He should request a trade this offseason and take a look at the Patriots as a landing spot, per Kay.
"With over $64 million in projected cap space for the 2026 campaign and 11 picks in the upcoming draft, the Pats can comfortably make a run at Garrett when the new league year begins," Kay wrote. "It may take four Day 1 and 2 picks—which are set to fall near the end of the round—spread across the next two drafts to get the job done, but Garrett would have a transformational effect on New England's defense and a real opportunity to win a ring."
Garrett is wasting his prime with the Browns, who aren't close to even being an average football team. He shouldn't make the same mistake Joe Thomas did by spending his entire career in Cleveland.
The Patriots are 9-2. Their head coach, Mike Vrabel, worked with Garrett on the Browns last season.
With that said, it will be fascinating to see if Garrett looks to leave Cleveland this offseason and has eyes for New England.
