The Cleveland Browns have completed a trade with the Chicago Bears.

The Cleveland Browns have struck at the NFL trade deadline, sending edge rusher Joe Tryon-Shoyinka and a seventh-round draft pick to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a sixth-round pick.

The deal was first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Browns signed Tryon-Shoyinka — a former first-round pick — to a one-year deal during the offseason, but he didn't see much of the field with Cleveland this season.

While Tryon-Shoyinka did play in all eight games with the Browns, he appeared in just six percent of the team's defensive snaps, participating in 27 percent of snaps on special teams. He logged nine tackles throughout his brief stay in Cleveland.

The 26-year-old began his NFL career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021 but never materialized into the pass rusher that many expected.

Tryon-Shoyinka actually had a decent rookie campaign, registering 29 tackles, four sacks and 10 quarterback hits, but his production largely stalled.

The University of Washington product posted four more sacks in his second season and then five sacks in 2023 before taking a major step back in 2024, finishing with 24 tackles and two sacks while playing in 15 games.

The Browns added Tryon-Shoyinka to bolster their defensive line depth, but with Cleveland's defensive front actually having a bunch of very playable pieces, he wasn't able to earn much playing time.

There are several other Browns players who could ultimately be dealt before the trade deadline expires on Tuesday afternoon, and many of them are far bigger names than Tryon-Shoyinka.

Tight end David Njoku and offensive linemen Joel Bitonio and Wyatt Teller are all viewed as potential trade candidates, and even cornerback Denzel Ward has been floated as a possibility.

Cleveland is just 2-6 on the year, and while its defense ranks No. 2 in the league, it has not surprisingly struggled to find its footing offensively.

The Browns are currently employing Dillon Gabriel as their starting quarterback, but Shedeur Sanders could be a possibility during the second half of the season.

It will be interesting to see if Cleveland decides to make any other moves.
