Cleveland Browns nearing a deal with Los Angeles Rams that would send two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the west coast after 9 years with the franchise.
It appears Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett will not be going from Cleveland straight to Canton after all.
According to numerous reports, the Browns have officially finalized a deal to send Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams, in exchange for a 2027 first-round pick, LB Jared Verse and other picks.
The full details of the deal are still being consummated, something Browns Vice President of Football Operations Andrew Berry reiterated shortly after news of the deal came to light.
"Not naive that there's a lot in the social media sphere, media sphere regarding Myles. Nothing is final at this point. We are in discussions for a potential transaction, including him. I'll have a lot more to say about it once it is final if it does become final, and I'll discuss the details at that point.
We are in negotiations, we are hopeful that we close something here in the next seveal hours, but nothing is final right yet."
Peppered with a couple of follow-up questions, Berry reiterated that he wasn't ready to elaborate further until something was official.
Regardless, news of the deal has already taken the NFL by storm after months of speculation, dating back to the Browns' reworking of Garrett's contract to push back the due date of some guaranteed bonus money to just before the start of the season, earlier this spring.
Doing so gave the Browns no immediate cap relief, sparking speculation that it was only done to create an avenue to trade the two-time Defensive Player of the Year. As it turns out, that appears to be exactly why the restructure was done.
Another ominous sign emerged from the fact that Garrett had yet to arrive in Berea for any of the Browns' voluntary program to meet with new head coach Todd Monken and the rest of Cleveland's new coaching staff.
Garrett was the longest tenured member of the team, dating back to when he was selected No. 1 overall by the franchise in 2017.
In nine seasons, he had already compiled a Hall of Fame-worthy resume, which includes 125 sacks and 239 QB hits. He capped off his time in Cleveland with a record setting 23 sacks campaign in 2025, to make him the new single-season sack king.
