Despite the Cleveland Browns' losing season, Shedeur Sanders reveals his intense focus on football after rookie Cam Ward inquired about his offseason

A 31-29 loss to the Tennessee Titans last weekend was the final nail in the coffin for any Cleveland Browns playoff hopes. Don't tell that to rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

With four games to go in the season, it doesn't much matter that the organization doesn't have anything tangible to play for. Making offseason plans will have to wait. That's essentially what he told Titans quarterback and fellow rookie Cam Ward as he left the field after Sunday's game.

"Motherf*****, this is my life here, you know," Sanders asserted of his conversations with Ward.

The 2025 No. 1 overall pick inquired what Sanders' plans were for the offseason in a video of the duo meeting at midfield after the game. Sanders, isn't even close to thinking about those types of things.

"So we on two different spectrums right now," Sanders continued. "I got to focus on playing my best and being the best player I can for the team. And obviously the situations are different. So, I know he puts us all into these games, in these final four games, but it's just a little bit different. Because you don't know what could happen."

To Sanders point, because the Titans selected Ward with the first pick in the draft, he's undoubtedly part of their future. Conversely, as a fifth-round pick, Sanders' future isn't nearly as clear cut.

While Ward was a starter from day one of the season, it took Sanders until Week 11 to make his NFL debut. His first career start came one week after that.

Earlier in the week head coach Kevin Stefanski shared his plans for Sanders to retain the starting job for the remainder of the season, which paves the way for these last four games to potentially serve as his final audition to be the team's starter next season.

The Colorado product isn't getting too far ahead of himself in that regard. But he got his point across to Ward. Even in the midst of a 3-10 season, he's only focused on football.

"So I just go here, enjoy my day. Work hard. Do everything I can," Sanders said. "If I'm here, I'm here. If I'm not, I'm not. It's nothing in my control. So I try to control what I can control . That's going out there, making the right reads, going out there, doing the right things, being the person I am and things will fall how they're supposed to."
