The Cleveland Browns weren't officially mathematically eliminated from playoff contention following a 26-8 loss to the San Francisco 49ers this past weekend. In many ways, though, the loss represented a critical point in the Browns' season where they can finally accept their fate as a team that is playing for draft position for the rest of the 2025 campaign.
From here on out, every win or loss the rest of the way will heavily impact where the Browns fall in the draft order. As things stand right now, they're still in the mix for the No. 1 overall pick, depending on how much more losing transpires the rest of the way.
Last week, the Browns were in the No. 6 spot in the order, but another loss actually helped them move up slightly, jumping the New York Jets who own a head-to-head win over them.
Here's where things stand with the 2026 NFL Draft order after Week 13, per Tankathon:

With the Tennessee Titans currently holding the top spot in the order at 1-11, a Week 14 meeting with the Browns could end up being a critical one as far as the eventual draft order is concerned.
Cleveland also has the luxury of owning two first round picks, following their 2025 draft night trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars that saw them add their 2026 first round pick in a multi-pick package that helped the Jags move up to No. 2 overall and select Travis Hunter.
The bad news for the Browns in regards to that extra pick, is that Jacksonville is very much in the AFC playoff picture, which makes leaves that selection slated as a late first rounder right now.
Where it ultimately falls will depend on whether or not the Jaguars hold firm and make the playoffs and in what round they are eventually eliminated. Either way it's another situation worth monitoring for Brown fans.

The Browns finished the 2024 campaign 3-14 and with the No. 2 overall pick in this past April's draft, before GM Andrew Berry shipped the pick and a few other later round selections to the Jaguars in exchange for the No. 5 overall pick, pick No. 36 in the second round, pick No. 126 in the fourth round and that future first in 2026.
Cleveland's 2025 draft class is easily one of the best in the NFL, with linebacker Carson Schwesinger, running back Quinshon Judkins, defensive tackle Mason Graham and tight end Harold Fannin Jr. all looking like potential cornerstone players for the franchise moving forward.
The 2026 draft will be another pivotal one for Berry (assuming he's still here) as he looks to have similar success identifying and selecting players – potentially even a QB – that will help complete a roster rebuild and bring the Browns back into playoff contention.
