As training camp breeds competition, several players across the Cleveland Browns' depth chart face uphill climbs to make the final 53-man roster by the end of August
Training camp arrives in Berea, where several pivotal position battles will unfold over the next four weeks and shape the Cleveland Browns roster for the 2026 season.
By the time roster cutdown day arrives on August 30, new head coach Todd Monken and company will surely be faced with some difficult decisions regarding who makes the final 53-man roster.
Those cuts could include some notable and perhaps even unexpected names, some of whom begin training camp on the fringe of making the roster.
Here are five players on the roster bubble entering camp.
1) WR, Cedric Tillman
Nobody is more uncomfortably positioned on the roster bubble than Tillman. As a veteran member of a revamped wide receiver room, Tillman suddenly doesn't fit. Cleveland essentially drafted his replacement in second-round pick Denzel Boston, who boasts the same big-bodied, contested-catch ability as the Tennessee Product.
Training camp will be crucial for Tillman to prove he still belongs and that he can stay healthy. With four players ahead of him feeling like locks already, it's likely just two spots are up for grabs inside a crowded room.
2) G, Zak Zinter
In two seasons, he's played only 278 snaps and was rarely able to crack the active roster on game days in 2025. A once-promising player at Michigan, he simply hasn't found his footing in the NFL.
Meanwhile, one of the Browns top priorities this offseason was to overhaul their offensive line. As a new starting five takes shape, Zinter is very much on the outside looking in, but there is one spot up for grabs. He'll have his work cut out for him to outshine several other players looking to crack the starting lineup.
3) C Luke Wypler
A similar situation awaits Wypler as camp commences. Four of the five starters are set, with free agent addition Elgton Jenkins still waiting to learn whether or not he'll play guard or center this season. That largely depends on which spot a capable starter emerges behind Jenkins during camp.
If the next in line guard is better than the next in line center, Jenkins will play the latter, and vice versa. Wypler will have to prove he's fully healthy and that he's the missing link up front; otherwise, he's soundly on the chopping block.
4) TE, Jack Stoll
In the name of overhauling the offense this offseason, Cleveland added three new faces to the tight end room. They each offer some unique skill sets for Monken to utilize, but with six bodies to account for, they all all can't make the team either.
Enter Stoll, who joined the team as a free agent this offseason, and while his prowess as a blocker is valuable, if rookies Joe Royer and Carsen Ryan can prove to offer more well-rounded options, Stoll could become expendable. Camp will settle this depth chart with or without Stoll.
5) CB Myles Harden
Harden serves to benefit from the fact that the cornerback room lacks any sort of reliable depth. He's also the top option from this group to play the nickel spot, so he may end up on this roster by default.
That said, his inconsistencies in the role are well-documented, and with the Browns drafting Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, they could opt for more three-safety looks in the secondary over a traditional slot corner. Plus, in a young, unproven but hungry group on the back end of the depth chart, Harden will face plenty of fierce competition. It's not a guarantee he makes this roster. He needs a strong camp.
