Cleveland Browns could consider trading down from the sixth overall pick in the NFL Draft and these 5 teams could be the best candidates to make a deal

Nothing is off the table for Andrew Berry when it comes to how he'll handle the Cleveland Browns first pick of the NFL Draft.

As things stand right now, Cleveland is slated to pick sixth overall. Berry could stand pat and select the best player available, or he could opt for addressing one of the team's biggest needs at tackle or wide receiver.

A third option also exists, where Berry trades the pick, potentially looking to move back in the order. That's something he executed just last year, pulling off a draft night trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars to slide back from No. 2 overall to No. 5 overall.

That deal paved the way for Jacksonville to select two-way Heisman winner Travis Hunter, while the Browns chose DT Mason Graham.

If Berry is considering something similar this year, there are a handful of teams that make sense to trade back with. Here are the top 5:

5) Cincinnati Bengals

There's been but a single trade between these two division rivals, so while Cincy is probably a pretty unlikely trade partner overall, hear me out. The Bengals desperately need an injection of talent on the defensive side of the football and when Cleveland is on the clock at six, there's a chance that some of the top defensive players are still available.

If any of Sonny Styles, Arvell Reese, David Bailey or potentially even a Caleb Down are options at six, maybe, just maybe, the Bengals get a little antsy and decide to make a move. Because they share a division with Cleveland, any deal will likely come at a higher cost than other teams.

Sure, the Browns may be giving up the rights to a cornerstone player to a division foe, but if they came away with a treasure trove of future picks, it's a deal they should be willing to make.

4) New Orleans Saints

The Saints draft just two picks after the Browns at No. 8 and are very much in the market for an edge rusher. Again, if Reese or Bailey slides to six, the Saints may feel inclined to get aggressive and move up to snag one of the overall best players in this entire draft.

Meanwhile, for Cleveland, it's only a moderate slide back a couple spots that would keep the franchise drafting in the top 10. The one downside is that the move won't come with as large a return in terms of draft capital.

It takes two to tango, though, and if the Saints end up being the only viable option for a trade back, beggars can't be choosers.

3) Los Angeles Rams

At one point the Rams owned two first rounders, making them ripe for a potential trade up if they really want someone. However, after sending pick No. 29 to the Kansas City Chiefs for Trent McDuffie, they're left with only 1 first rounder at pick 13, which they got from Atlanta last year.

Los Angeles has been linked to quarterback Ty Simpson, though, and while drafting the Alabama product in the top 10 seems unlikely, QBs are almost always over-drafted. You also just can't rule out that the Rams are deploying their patented "F them picks" mentality and making a move to add a player they think could be the missing piece on a championship roster.

2) Miami Dolphins

Miami just pulled off a massive deal of its own this week, sending WR Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos in a deal that brought back an additional first (pick 30). The move now gives the Dolphins some valuable flexibility to potentially move up the board.

With waddle out of the picture, wide receiver is now a top need for them as well, especially after signing Malik Willis to start under center. Maybe a move up to six to land Carnell Tate can entice them to part ways with their pair of first.

If the Browns pulled off such a move they'd then have three first-rounders at 11, 24 and 30. Talk about an opportunity to overhaul the roster quickly.

1) Dallas Cowboys

In the aftermath of their blockbuster trade that sent Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers last summer, Dallas is armed with two first-round picks this year. That makes them a prime candidate to be aggressive on draft weekend.

Jerry Jones is such a wild card. There's been numerous occasions where he sees a guy he wants in the draft and does whatever he needs to land him. Maybe that happens this year too, (Downs, for example, is from Dallas) and he talks himself into moving up.

Such a move shouldn't surprise anyone, and the Browns would be a perfect partner. Maybe the only downside is that the return is 2026 firsts and not a 2027 first.
