Just days before training camp commences, the Cleveland Browns are on the hunt for a veteran edge rusher, according to a report from Cleveland.com. 

After trading Myles Garrett back in June, the Browns' current defensive end depth chart is headlined by Jared Verse, who came back in the Garrett trade with the Los Angeles Rams, along with a haul of picks. Behind him, Alex Wright and Isaiah McGuire return as solid depth pieces, but beyond that an uninspiring collection of players comes into focus. 

In today's NFL, teams are constantly rotating players along the defensive front, making depth at those spots extremely valuable. The Browns could certainly benefit from another dependable body joining the room. 

So what options are available? 

Here are some of the top remaining free agent edge rushers. 

Bosa spent the 2025 season with the Buffalo Bills and made a pretty notable impact by accumulating five strip sacks across 15 games during the regular season. He posted a 14.6% pressure rate, which ranked 46th among his peers in the process. 

A nagging hamstring injury, however, rendered him less effective over the final few games of the regular season and into the playoffs. That may be at least one major reason why he remains a free agent at the moment. 

After four straight seasons with double-digit sacks, Reddick has amassed only 3.5 of them over the last two. There's a Mike Rutenberg connection here, though, as he spent the 2024 campaign with the New York Jets while Rutenberg was on Robert Saleh's staff. Maybe they could link up in Cleveland via a prove it deal with an opportunity for Reddick to revive his career. 

He may be 33, but the former No. 1 overall pick is still producing at a respectable level. Last year, he had 8.5 sacks for the Dallas Cowboys and was in the top 20 in percentage of snaps with a pressure. His history with Cleveland is well-documented, having spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons with the Browns. Perhaps a reunion is in order. 

A former first-round pick, Ferrell has bounced around the league a bit, mostly out west. Last season he played one game with the Los Angeles Chargers after being promoted off the team's practice squad, but was released in mid-October. He's later joined the San Francisco 49ers practice squad, and ultimately he played eight games and registered four sacks. Having played in Saleh's defense last year, could make him a fit for Rutenberg's. 

There's an obvious Todd Monken connection there, having spent each of the last three seasons in Baltimore. The former second-round pick had over 21 sacks between the 2023 and 2024 seasons, but then saw those numbers drop precipitously in 2025. He is durable, though, and would be a meaningful voice in the locker room. 

Once considered an up-and-comer in the league, Gross-Matos has seen his numbers level off in recent years. It's not all his fault, as injuries have derailed each of his last two seasons. That's probably one of the biggest holdups with the former second-round pick right now, but he spent last season with Saleh and has the versatility to move inside or outside. 

If Cleveland is looking for more of a Hail Mary option, this is it. Miller is 37 and in the twilight of his career, but still able to contribute in a meaningful way. He was top 75 in pressures last year and had nine sacks in a bounce-back effort with the Washington Commanders. In a rotational role, he could make sense for the Browns.
