Todd Monken was quick to announce he wouldn't be playing his starters in the Cleveland Browns preseason finale. It made Thursday's matchup with the New England Patriots more about the guys fighting for those final coveted spots on the 53-man roster than anything else. 

A number of those players put on a show in this one. Including the game's two big starts, Dillon Gabriel and Taylen Green, who are vying for the QB3 job. On a night where the offense put up over 30 points to cruise to victory, here's what we learned about the Browns: 

Gabriel had a strong start to camp, then wavered a little bit in recent weeks, but his last act was a strong one, that likely cemented him as the Browns' QB3. Gabriel completed 12-of-15 passes for 186 yards and a whopping 3 touchdowns in the first half. He was relieved of his duties by rookie Taylen Green to start the second half. 

If he's not QB3, it's because he did enough to entice another team to trade some low-level draft capital for him. Andrew Berry may attempt to pull something off beyond cut-down day, anyway. 

As for Green, he was 5-of-7, for 29 yards. It was his running ability that stole the show, though. Green carries the ball 8 times for 66 yards. He may be too talented to expose to waivers, so how the Browns handle this QB room from here will be fascinating

We technically knew this one already. The Browns lack of depth in a number of areas has been on full display for a few weeks now. It was on display again on Thursday night, particularly in the secondary. 

D'Angelo Ross got burned for a 45-yard TD pass to Kyle Williams early in the first quarter. Tre Avery's coverage struggles continued, as well. Considering that Cleveland signed CB Mekhi Blackmon before the game tonight, they'll certainly be looking to bolster that room, among others. 

All do respect to Ahmani Marshall, who the team has liked throughout camp, and who scored a nice touchdown in the first half, but Sanders appeared to cement himself as the RB3 on Thursday night. 

Sanders was the first back on the field tonight and showed off his powerful running ability by turning six carries into 29 rushing yards. That's good for 4.8 ypc. Between his joint practice outing with the Bills and Thursday night's performance, he seems like the obvious choice for the third RB spot. 

Listen, what he lacks in stature, he makes up for in heart. Outside of KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston, Floriea has easily been the most consistent receiver throughout camp. And he capped off his preseason on Thursday night with a 5 catch, 29-yard, two-touchdown night. He almost had a third before halftime, but he couldn't quite keep one ball from touching the ground as he brought it in. 

The Browns WR room has done a complete 180 from where it was last year. With Boston, Concepcion, Jerry Jeudy and Isaiah Bond all locks and Tylan Wallace flashing throughout camp, the Browns have enough depth that they can afford to keep Floriea, who is certainly limited in what he can do. He's earned it though. 

The rookie tackle .... or guard now? ... didn't play long in this one. That's because Monken and company saw what they needed to see in the first quarter and got him out of there. He was mauling guys in some of the duo concept runs and got out in front on a screen and absolutely leveled a defender in a clip that was making the rounds on social media.

He was always going to make the roster, but Thursday night was a promising performance for him as a depth piece in the trenches .

All this talk of the Browns lacking depth at several positions, somewhat surprisingly, their depth at linebacker may be alright. Easton Mascarenas-Arnold has had a tremendous camp and played a ton of snaps in the preseason. Winston Reid has also played a ton and serves as a key special-teamer for the Browns.

Even rookie Justin Jefferson had a few moments in this game, leading the team in tackles, including a sack. He also snared an interception late in the fourth quarter to put a cherry on top of his day.
