Browns' Wide Receiver Makes Bold Claim About Week 2 Opponents cover image

Did Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy just put a target on his back with certain comments pointed at his Week 2 opponents?

After opening up the NFL season with a close loss against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Browns travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens.

Baltimore is coming off a heartbreaking Sunday Night Football loss to the Buffalo Bills, where it blew a 15 point lead with just four minutes left in the game.

And it opened the door for criticism from outside sources.

When asked about what kind of challenges the Ravens’ secondary poses to Jeudy, he immediately shut it down.

“No challenges,” Jeudy quipped back with zero hesitation.

Since coming to the NFL, Jeudy has had an up-and-down career, spending the first four years with the Denver Broncos.

But when he was traded to the Browns prior to the 2024 season, his performance took off like a rocket. He hauled in 1,229 receiving yards on 13.7 yards per catch, as well as four touchdowns.

So it’s clear that after finally posting a 1,000 yard season, Jeudy felt like he could go against anyone. And he probably can. One of his high-end traits is his blazing speed.

But, on the other side of the line of scrimmage will be an elite secondary in the NFL, most notably All-Pro safety Kyle Hamilton, as well as rookie safety Malaki Starks.

Starks was viewed as one of the better defensive prospects in the 2025 Draft after a successful career with the University of Georgia. In his first career game against Buffalo, he seemed to fare well with seven total tackles.

Lastly, the cornerbacks are no slouches either, as the Ravens are rolling out four-time Pro Bowler Marlon Humphrey, last year’s first round pick Nate Wiggins, as well as Chidobe Awuzie.

Are we really sure we want to run with the narrative that Baltimore doesn’t pose any challenges in the secondary?

Perhaps the Ravens aren’t the defensive force they were back when Mike Macdonald was the defensive coordinator, but it’s hard not to look at that secondary and not at least respect what they can do.

Cleveland has already entered this season with a ton of question marks surrounding its franchise. The last thing the Browns need is even more bad publicity, but this time it’s on-the-field drama.

Jeudy coming into Cleveland was probably the best thing for his career, and its possible he continues to develop into the multi-time Pro Bowler that most envisioned for him when he was drafted.

But despite feeling confident about the upcoming week, Jeudy has officially given the Ravens bulletin board material – as if they didn’t need enough as it is.
