Is there a more dynamic rookie in the National Football League than Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Emeka Egbuka?
On Sunday against Philadelphia, Egbuka torched two Eagles defenders for a 77-yard catch and run that narrowed the Bucs' deficit to 24-1
Egbuka, the latest Ohio State wide receiver to make an immediate impact in the NFL, has been a revelation for Tampa Bay.
He leads the Bucs in multiple offensive categories (as of the third quarter Sunday):
He doesn't play or act like a rookie, the Bucs said.
"Since Day 1, just talking to him, you can tell he’s just extremely cerebral," (Bucs quarterback Baker) Mayfield told Mark Sanchez on FOX Sports’ "Rearview" podcast. "Obviously, you get drafted that high, your physical talents are off the charts, that is what it is. But he’s just so smart. Football IQ through the roof, just understands what we’re trying to get done."
With All-Pro and certain Hall-of-Famer Mike Evans out with a hamstring injury for several weeks, Egbuka gives the Tampa Bay offense a level of security in the passing game.
