Injuries derailed Ben Bredeson's 2025 season after a significant contract. See where the Bucs' offensive guard stands now.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Ben Bredeson to a long-term extension last offseason.
The offensive guard came to the Bucs in spring 2024 on a one-year deal worth an estimated $3.5 million.
The following March, the Bucs locked Bredeson up for three years and $22 million, but his 2025 didn't end up going according to plan.
Bucs Roundtable will take a look at where each of the Buccaneers' 2025 free agents stand going into this year's cycle.
Our series has featured offensive lineman Charlie Heck, linebackers Haason Reddick and Anthony Walker Jr., along with cornerback Kindle Vildor and punter Riley Dixon.
The series will also include players brought aboard before 2025, who the team re-signed, such as nose tackle Greg Gaines.
Bredeson's 2025
Last season, Bredeson played in 11 of Tampa's 17 games, missing seven due to injuries to his knee and hamstring. Bredeson wasn't active for any of Tampa's last four regular-season games, in which the team went 1-3 and ended up losing out on the NFC South for the first time since 2019.
Per Pro Football Focus, Bredeson took 622 snaps in 2025, which was down from a career-high 1,173 that he took in 2024. Of the 622, 210 were at center and 412 were at left guard, with injuries forcing the Bucs to shuffle the line around all year.
In 2024, Bredeson started all 17 of Tampa's games, a year after starting 16 games for the New York Giants, and, per Pro Football Reference, was on the field for 99 percent of the team's offensive snaps, which was a career high.
When Bredeson was healthy enough to play, he was still a regular for Tampa in 2025, starting all 11 of the games he appeared in.
Before Tampa
Before Bredeson got to the Bucs, he played four NFL seasons. He started his career with the Baltimore Ravens in 2020, after Baltimore took him in the fourth round (pick No. 143) of that year's draft out of Michigan.
Bredeson played in 10 games with the Ravens as a rookie in a reserve role. Then, in late August of his second season, the Ravens traded Bredeson to the Giants.
After an injury to Nick Gates, Bredeson made his first Giants appearance in Week 2. The next week, he got his first NFL start against the Atlanta Falcons. That ended up being Bredeson's only start that season, with injuries limiting him to eight games. Bredeson started eight games in 2022, but only played in 11 overall, with a knee injury putting him on IR in late October.
The next season, Bredeson started 16 games, and then the Bucs signed him.
