The Tampa Bay Buccaneers moved quickly to fill the gap left by Logan Hall's departure, bringing in former Carolina Panthers defensive lineman A'Shawn Robinson on a one-year, $10 million deal.
Hall, the 33rd overall draft pick in 2022, signed with the Houston Texans on a two-year contract that will pay him an estimated $7 million a year, NFL insider Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Tuesday.
Robinson posted 65 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 31 pressures in 658 snaps, grading in at 65.5 (42nd among 134 interior DLs), according to Pro Football Focus (PFF).
The 10-year veteran had his best season in 2024, totaling career highs in tackles (80) and sacks (5.5) in his first year in Carolina.
Robinson started his career with the Detroit Lions, after being drafted in the second round in 2016.
Two-time All-Pro and Super Bowl champion defensive tackle Haloti Ngata was on the backend of his career when Robinson arrived in Detroit, but, still recognized that Robinson had what it took to last in the NFL.
"A'Shawn's awesome. He's friggin big and strong and he's going to be a great student of the game," Ngata said during OTA's. "He pays attention, always corrects what he needs to correct, and he's going to be a great player."
Robinson spent four seasons with Detroit, notching 172 tackles and five total sacks. He scored the only touchdown of his professional career in 2017, intercepting 2026 Hall-of Fame inductee Drew Brees on the goal line before scampering in for six.
However, Robinson's most impressive accolade came with the Los Angeles Rams. Robinson joined the Rams in 2020, playing a major role in their Super Bowl Victory just two seasons later.
Robinson racked up six tackles and a sack in the big game, contributing one of seven sacks on Joe Burrow. According to PFF, Robinson was the third-highest graded Rams defenseman in their 23-20 Super Bowl victory, grading in at an 89.5 -- nearly seven full points higher than Rams legend Aaron Donald.
Following the win, Robinson joined NFL Network's "NFL Now," where he talked about how special this victory was.
"Honestly, it's a blessing. God gave me this and I ran with it. I can't complain. Its dreams coming true," Robinson said. "Its like Disneyland."
Robinson spent one year with the New York Giants before joining the Panthers in 2024.
Now, Robinson remains in the NFC South, joining a beefy Tampa Bay defensive front consisting of Vita Vea, Yaya Diaby and Calijah Kancey.
