Chandler Morris joins Jalon Daniels as the Buccaneers' second UDFA quarterback. Can this dynamic dual-threat signal-caller secure the QB3 spot?

Among the 17 undrafted free agents the Tampa Bay Buccaneers added after the 2026 NFL Draft, they added two quarterbacks, Kansas' Jalon Daniels and most recently, Virginia's Chandler Morris.

This marked the fifth-straight draft where Tampa has chosen not to select a quarterback, dating back to Kyle Trask in 2021.

Morris was a journeyman in college, with stops at Oklahoma, TCU, North Texas, and Virginia.

In the 2024 season, Morris broke out with the Mean Green, throwing for 3,774 yards and 31 touchdowns while surrendering just 12 interceptions.

Morris commanded an impressive North Texas offensive attack that finished as the No. 3 offense in the country (488.7 yds per game).

After one year in Denton, TX, Morris entered the transfer portal as a highly-sought after QB prospect.

He ended up with Virginia, leading the Cavaliers to an impressive season and an ACC Championship berth. Morris also led the program to a record 11 wins and a regular season ACC crown.

Morris once again eclipsed 3,000 passing yards, totaling 21 total touchdowns.

His most impressive outing of the season came in Week 4 against Stanford. He threw for a season-high 380 yards and four touchdowns.

Morris was also a dual-threat against the Cardinal, rushing for an additional 19 yards and a touchdown.

He followed up with a gutsy, double-overtime victory over then-ranked No. 8 Florida State.

Although Morris threw three interceptions, he made up for it with three rushing touchdowns and two throwing scores, accounting for nearly 300 yards of total offense.

Morris was eluding defenders and extending plays with his legs.

His final score, a four-yard scamper in second overtime, sealed the 46-38 victory and propelled the Cavaliers into the AP Top 25.

Following the season, Morris was seeking an additional year of eligibility, but his petition was denied. He was a late addition to the NFL Draft pool, entering his name on April 9.

Although he went undrafted, NFL.com's Chad Reuter listed Morris as one of the best 13 QBS available to sign following the draft, ranking just behind Daniels, who ranked No. 9.

Alongside Daniels, Morris will compete for the QB3 job behind starting quarterback Baker Mayfield and projected backup Jake Browning, who signed a one-year deal with Tampa in free agency.
