
The Arizona Cardinals got their fourth-straight win against the Dallas Cowboys 27-17 on Monday Night Football. Breaking a five-game losing streak, the Cardinals defense stepped up with a total of three turnovers and multiple sacks from Calais Cambell, the oldest active defensive player in the NFL.
The Cowboys started off with the ball to begin the game with Arizona making a big stop in the redzone on third down. Dallas decided to go for it on fourth down that ended up being sacked by linebacker Josh Sweat, giving up the ball on downs to the Cardinals.
Quarterback Jacoby Brissett started off with his pocket presence making great passes while taking hits. Connecting with wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. on two occasions for long first downs. Arizona ended the first drive with a field goal.
Two possessions in a row the Cardinals marched down the field and continued to put points on the board with Brissett connecting with Harrison Jr. this time in the end zone to put Arizona up 10-0 to start the second quarter.
Arizona's defense came up with a fumble recovery on Dallas next offensive drive. The defense for the Cardinals brought pressure and making big hits that eventually led to a fumble to give them back the ball
Mack Wilson for Arizona dropped what could of been a interception on Dallas' last offensive drive, makes the hit that caused the fumble by Dallas tight end after the catch.
Unable to capitalize on the turnover, Cardinals were forced to punt. That punt was than blocked by the Cowboys and recovered in the end-zone for a special team's touchdown.
Arizona best wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. tied his career high for catches in a game with six, with still two minutes remaining in the first half. Coach Gannon wants Harrison Jr. to be more of an active role player going into Monday night.
Quarterback Jacoby Brissett got his first rushing touchdown of the season for Arizona with 49 seconds remaining in the first half. That score concluded a great drive that was 74 yards on 11 plays.
Arizona Cardinals defense continued to be the story in the second half. Coming up with two more turnovers in clutch moments. Jacoby Brissett stated in a on field post-game interview 'the defense won us that game.
Brissett went 21-31 passing with 261 yards, two touchdowns and one rushing touchdown. Having a third straight game being able to move the Cardinals offense in a positive direction, questions are arising. Do the Arizona Cardinals continue to start Brissett if Kyler Murray is cleared to play?
The offense has looked better with Jacoby Brissett at the helm, so we shall see what Coach Gannon decides going into next week.
