Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn ImagesThe Los Angeles Chargers are currently 9-4 and sit in the fifth seed in the AFC with only four games left in the regular season.
After defeating the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night, the Chargers are facing a four-game stretch of the Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and Denver Broncos.
Of those four, three of them rank in the top 10 in total and/or scoring defense (Chiefs, Texans and Broncos).
The Bills are the sixth seed, and at 9-4 are tied with the Chargers and would benefit greatly from a slip in the rankings by Los Angeles. The Texans are the seventh seed and are only one game back of the five seed. They could be a threat to knock off the Chargers and grab the tiebreaker advantage when they match up in week 17, thus opening the door for Houston to elevate in the standings at season's end.
With a mini-gauntlet on their hands for the last month of the regular season, the Chargers need all the help they can get to not find themselves facing a scenario of being at the bottom of the playoff seedings by the time January rolls around.
