In a piece published today to ESPN, writer Kris Rhim gave an assessment of where the Los Angeles Chargers stand heading into the bye. After a catastrophic 35-6 defeat against the Jaguars, Rhim gave a bleak outlook of a team that came into the season with high hopes in year two of head coach Jim Harbaugh's tenure.
"Sunday was another humiliation for the Chargers, who lost 35-6 to the Jaguars, marking the most lopsided loss of the Jim Harbaugh era in Los Angeles. The loss was only surprising to those who haven't closely watched this team, and the beatdown was reflective of the inconsistencies that have defined this Chargers team all season.", expressed Rhim.
After 11 weeks of play, the Chargers sit at 7-4, good for second in the AFC West and the sixth seed in the AFC. They began the season with three wins in a row, then lost two straight, alternated a win and loss, went on another three game win streak and finally lost last Sunday's laugher against the Jaguars by 29 points.
Rhim also cited a "lack of identity" with the team, referencing last year's dependence on the defense and how that anchored them. Now, whether offense, defense or special teams, the team is looking for answers in a crowded AFC playoff hunt with only six games left to find them.
Do you think the Chargers will turn things around in time to secure a playoff spot in time? Or, is there concern that the "bottom falling out" is just on the horizon for Harbaugh's group?
